A direct solvent extraction was used for the determination of phenolic compounds from Teucrium polium . Methanol, ethanol, iso-propanol, butanol and D.W  were used as an extractants and study  the affecting extraction factors including : the type and solvent concentration, temperature, extraction time and number of batch extraction, by  using Folin-ciocalteu method to determine the Total Phenolic Content (TPC) and measurement of the absorbance at λ_max 765nm. The accuracy and precision of this method were determined by preparing laboratory samples of Gallic acid , the results showed relative errors ranging from ±0.5 – 1.49 % and the standard deviation equal to 1.2

This research was aimed to the purification and characterization of cytosine deaminase as a medically important enzyme from locally isolated Escherichia coli; then studying its cytotoxic anticancer effects against colon cancer cell line. Cytosine deaminase was subjected to three purification steps including precipitation with 90% ammonium sulfate saturation, ion exchange chromatography on DEAE-cellulose column, and gel filtration chromatography throughout Sephadex G-200 column. Specific activity of the purified enzyme was increased up to 9 U/mg with 12.85 folds of purification and 30.85% enzyme recovery. The theoretical outlines of calculations assume that the nuclei understudy are composed of two parts: the stable core and the unstable halo. The core part is studied using the radial wave functions of harmonic-oscillator (HO) potentials, while the halo is studied through Woods-Saxon (WS) potential.
