European Loanwords in Modern Persian:
...Show More Authors

The movement and broadening of foreign and European words into Persian is a topic within historical linguistics. Such changes are semantic, phonological

Since many of these European loanwords into Persian took a remarkable space within Persian dictionaries, and became an indispensible part of the language, a study of the original languages of these loanwords may identify the enormous effect of those languages upon Persian, being a receptor language, and may refer to the liveliness.

Among the important factors which helped the movement of various loanwords into Persian are:

  • Geographical: this is seen via contact between Persian people and those neighboring people, specifically those speaking Arabic, Turkish, and Kurdish.
  • Economical: this is manifested by the movement of words through trade transactions between the Persian and other people, such as German, English, Italian, Greek, etc.
  • Political: this is seen by movement of words via military intrusions by those who occupied Iran for long times. Such was the case of Russian words which came through the Russian people who occupied Iran during the 1940s; a similar case was that of the English words during the time of the campaign against Iran.
  • Cultural: this is seen in the effect upon Iranians by western cultures, when different terms and words paved their way into Persian and still in use.

I depended in doing this on a number of dictionaries available at the Library of the Dept. of Persian in the College of Languages.

The Babylonian Woman As Heroine In Dekker’s Drama: The Babylonian Woman As Heroine In Dekker’s Drama
...Show More Authors

Abstract
The present research paper provides an analysis of Thomas Dekker’s
exaltation of the figure of the Babylonian woman as a tragic heroine in his dramatic
art. The paper falls into two sections. The first section outlines the deliberate
mispresentation of the figure of the Babylonian woman in the Bible and the
misreading of that figure. The second section reveals Dekker’s rectification of the
distorted image of the Babylonian woman, whom he defends and glorifies as a
heroine and a victim of misinterpretation and conspiracy.

A Comparison Between the Theoretical Cross Section Based on the Partial Level Density Formulae Calculated by the Exciton Model with the Experimental Data for (_79^197)Au nucleus
...Show More Authors

In this paper, the theoretical cross section in pre-equilibrium nuclear reaction has been studied for the reaction  at energy 22.4 MeV. Ericson’s formula of partial level density PLD and their corrections (William’s correction and spin correction) have been substituted  in the theoretical cross section and compared with the experimental data for  nucleus. It has been found that the theoretical cross section with one-component PLD from Ericson’s formula when  doesn’t agree with the experimental value and when . There is little agreement only at the high value of energy range with  the experimental cross section. The theoretical cross section that depends on the one-component William's formula and on-component corrected to spi

The Influence of Short Wavelength Laser on the Pupae Development of the Old World Screw- Worm Fly (OWSWF) Chrysomya bezziana Villeneuve (Diptera: Calliphoridae)

The biological effects of pulsed N2-laser on the old world screw-worm fly, Chrysomya bezziana Villeneuve in the pupal stage were investigated. Different laser parameters were involved in this work. The old pupae of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 days were exposed to laser radiation during 10, 30 and 60 second with repetition rate 10, 20 and 30 pulse/second. The percent of normal adults emergence (female and male) was investigated. The results showed that the adults emergence was highly decreased as the repetition rate and exposure time increased when the pupae irradiated for 1, 2 and 3 days old as compared with 4 and 5 days. The results also indicated that the pupal period was significantly increased of irradiated pupae for 1, 2, 3 and 4 days old, whi
