Simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method is described based on the coupling reaction of tetracycline hydrochloride (TC. HCl) with diazotized 4-aminopyridine in bulk and pharmaceutical forms. Colored azo dye formed during this reaction is measured at 433 nm as a function of time. Factors affecting the reaction yield were studied and the conditions were optimized. The kinetic study involves initial rate and fixed time (10 minutes) procedures for constructing the calibration graphs to determine the concentration of (TC. HCl). The graphs were linear for both methods in concentration range of 10.0 to 100.0 μg.mL-1. The recommended procedure was applied successfully in the determination of (TC. HCl) in its commercial formulations.

A rapid and sensitive method for the determination of amoxicillin trihydrate (AMXT) based on the diazo-coupling reaction was studied. Sulphanilic acid diazotizes with nitrite ion in acidic medium to produce a water soluble, colorless diazonium ion, which subsequently coupled with AMXT to form a colored azo dye in the alkaline medium, having maximum absorption at 455 nm. The calibration graph showed that Beer's law is obeyed over the concentration range of 0.3 – 30.0 μg/mL of AMXT, with the detection limit of 0.15 μg/mL and molar absorptivity was 2.3 × 104 L/mol.cm. This study examines the factors that affect oral participation of six Arab postgraduate students (two Iraqis, two Jordanians, and two Libyans), namely, three male participants and three female participants. For this purpose, a semi-structured interview was employed. The results showed that female as well male interviewees share some factors that make oral participation in classroom disheartening. These factors include high levels of anxiety, lack of confidence, shyness, and lack of preparation. It was also that there is no difference between male and female interviewees in relation to the factors that make them feel disheartened from oral classroom participation.
