Research summary
Perhaps the methods of mask that Arab poets resorted to in our time are due to the conditions of oppression and political and social repression that the Arab poet suffered from; So he strived to circumvent it, and it became a justification for hiding behind it. The research is available on a number of topics that lead to the definition of the mask technique and the beginning of its prevalence in Arabic literature after the Second World War, especially in recent decades by benefiting from historical stories, fairy tales and legends of all kinds. As well as defining the mask idiomatically and linguistically, and the beginning of its use in ancient religious rituals, and the special place it had in Greek plays. Poets in the modern era created the mask that appears in the mold of a certain personality whose tongues run poetry, and drives speech to explain the thoughts, feelings and internal fears of her with the various artistic, political and social motives. The research talks about the field of summoning the mask in literature, the mask in the field of Arabic poetry and literature, and the widespread use of the stories of the prophets, peace be upon them, as the most prominent religious and ideological figures in contemporary Arab poetry, including the figure of Christ. The research focused on the study of the poem "Christ after the Crucifixion" by explanation and interpretation, the method of using the mask, building the circle of the poem, the dramatic construction in it, and the conflict between the positive and negative parties in the poem, which is represented by Christ / the conqueror, and Judah / the government of oppression on the other hand, and the relationship of intertextuality in Mask poetry, the fact that conflict is an objective and subjective experience of two characters, one ancient and the other contemporary, the use of symbols in mask poetry, the multiplicity of voices and personalities, the role of monologue in bringing poetry closer to this poem, kinetics in constructing speech, measuring tension and emotion in the verb indicating occurrence relative to the singular adjective, and dramatic construction.
