This study aims to evaluate the performance of the sewage treatment plant in Al- Diwaniya, one of cities in the southern part in Iraq. This evaluation could be used to facilitate effluent quality assessment or optimal process control of the plant. The influent reaching the plant is considered a medium to strong in strength with BOD5/COD ratio in the range 0.23 and 0.69 which can be considered an easily degradable sewage by the biological processes performed by the activated sludge unit. The quality of the effluent was found to be higher than the Iraqi standards for disposal to water bodies. During a period of two years, from January 1995 till December 1996, the first survey on fish parasites in Bahr Al-Najaf depression, mid Iraq, was achieved. A total of 6992 fishes, belonging to 11 species, were collected and inspected for external and internal parasites. These fishes were infected with three protozoans (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, Trichodina domerguei and Myxobolus pfeifferi), two monogeneans (Dactylogyrus cornu and Gyrodactylus elegans), two digenetic trematodes (Clinostomum complanatum and Ascocotyle coleostoma), one nematode (Contracaecum sp.) and one acanthocephalan (Neoechinorhynchus iraqensis).     This study done was carried out identify the species of parasitical lice on.   White cheeked bulbul(Pycnonotus leucotis).For this purpose 24 birds were collected from AlDiwaniya city and examined externally for the lice.The results showed that  P. leucotis  was infested with five species of chewing lice with a total infestation ratio of 87.5% .These species were:- Menacanthus sp., Columbicola columbae , Bonomiella columba , Coloceras damicorne and  Alcedoecus sp.       The result of this study represents the first isolation of these species from white cheeked bulbul in Iraq.The species were recorded from P. leucotis as a new host for such parasites. Urinary Schistosomiasis is one of important diseases that cause irritation and damage of urinary tract and other systems and tissues and can not be expected by doctors when diagnosing urinary tract diseases.The current study is conducted to investigate the prevalence of schistosomiasisin Baghdad / Al-Rusafa. 191urine samples were collected fromresidents ofsome areas of Al-Rusafain Baghdad governarate (Almashtal, Albaladyat, Alameen, Baghdad aljadida and Alnahrawan) for the period from March until the end of September 2010.The samples were examined by the precipitation and examination of micro hematuria by reagent strips. Hepatitis E (HE) is an inflammation of the liver caused by hepatitis E virus
(HEV) infection. Iraq is one of the Asian countries with high incidence and
prevalence of hepatitis. In this paper, HE prevalence will be determined in Al-
Muthanna province /Iraq. Commercially available Micro-ELISA for marker of
hepatitis E (HEV IgM, Foresight, USA) kit was used to test (270) patients for HEV
IgMantibodies. Also (10) blood samples from normal healthy individuals were used
as normal control in this study. Among the (270) analyzed serum samples, a total of
(72) samples (26.66 %) were found to be positive for anti-HEV IgM antibodies, and
all these patients were tested for confirmatory test at central public health

The study area is located in Kirkuk governorate - northern Iraq, It covers an area of 630 km2.Twenty eight groundwater samples were collected from the study area during October 2012. pH, electrical conductivity(EC) and total dissolved solids (TDS) and chemical analysis of major ions (Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, Cl, SO42 and HCO3) were determined. Sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), residual sodium carbonate (RSC), sodium percent (Na%) and electrical conductivity were used to evaluate the suitability of groundwater for irrigation purpose. The groundwater samples mostly have no harmful effects and no hazard in terms of SAR and RSC respectively, and permissible in terms ofNa%, but they are poor, very poor and marginal as irrigation water.
