لقد كانت الصروح المعمارية العملاقة و النصب والتماثيل الكبيرة التي أنجزت على مر العصور منذ أن وعى الإنسان و أدرك الفن و الحاجة إليه، تنجز بمواد مقاومة للطبيعة ومتيسرة، وخير مثال على ذلك الحجر و المرمر بأنواعه المختلفة و مادة البرونز اذا أنكب النحاتون و المعماريون العراقيون وغيرهم على إنشاء أعمال و صروح مختلفة نحتية و هندسية كبيرة أريد لها أن تتحدى الطبيعة وتقاوم لآلاف السنين ،اذ وصلتنا وهي بأحسن حال، مثال ذلك الزقورة و الأهرام و أبو الهول و أسد بابل و أسوار بابل و بوابة عشتار ومسلة حمورابي والثور المجنح ومئات الالآف من القطع الأثرية حيث كانت هذه الأعمال تنجز بمواد متاحة وحسب توفرها أو سهولة الحصول عليها . وحين يشرع النحات بإنجاز عمل فني يضع نصب عينه المادة التي سينجز بها هذا العمل و ذلك لمواجهة ضغوطها، وقد كان العمل بالحجر أو المرمر يفرض على النحات التخلي عن النهايات الدقيقة للأعمال النحتية كالأيدي و الأرجل المرفوعة والمنفصلة عن الجسم أو الوقوف على قدم واحدة مثلاً حيث يعمد النحات الى إسناد التمثال الى جذع شجرة أو بعض الأحجار التي قد تشوه العمل النحتي أحياناً أو قد تكون أحياناً مقحمة أقحاماً لا مسوغ له وذلك بسبب عدم كفاءة الحجر أو المرمر في الصمود و تحمل كتلة الحجر الثقيلة إذا كانت واقفة على قدم واحدة أو اثنتين مثلاً .و حينما أدرك الإنسان أسرار المعادن وأتقن فن صهرها و استخدامها بدأت ثورة جديدة في أنجاز إعمال نحتية بمادة البرونز و ذلك بسبب كفاءة هذه المادة وإمكان تطويعها لإنجاز أعمال نحتية تمتاز بتقنية عالية و مقاومة جيدة للطبيعة كذلك تمنح النحات حرية في استخدام هذه المادة لإنجاز أعمال يصعب بناؤها بالحجر حيث تفرض مادة العمل على النحات شكل النموذج و تحدده أحياناً كثيرة و كما ورد سابقاً ، لذلك بدأت ثورة جديدة في إنجاز أعمال برونزية بقيت خالدة حتى يومنا هذا و التي جاءت إلينا زهاء 6000 عام ( تماثيل الأسس السومرية ) و هو أول تأريخ لأكتشاف المعادن و استخدامها في بلاد وادي الرافدين " حيث أجمع العلماء المتخصصون بالآثار أن اكتشاف المعادن تم في الألف السادس قبل الميلاد "ليفي 1980 ص 15 ومنذ ذلك التأريخ حتى يومنا هذا بقي معدن البرونز هو الأفضل و الأجدر في إنجاز الأعمال النحتية التي يراد لها البقاء و الخلود .تقودني هذه المقدمة الصغيرة عن الأعمال النحتية المنجزة بمادتي البرونز و الحجر الى ان اهملما تبقى من أعمال فنية منجزة بمواد أخرى مثل الخزف بسبب أن استخدام الحجر و البرونز هما الاقدر، اذ صممتا لتكونا في ساحات و شوارع وحدائق أي في مواجهة الطبيعة و تقلباتها مستثنياً من ذلك بعض الأعمال التي أنجزت من الخزف المزجج و هي ترقد في بعض ساحات بغداد و التي غالباً ما تكون معرضة للكسر لذا تم التركيز على مادة البولستر رزن لأنه الأكثر قدرة بعد البرونز ، والذي هو محور بحثنا هذا .لقد شاع في السنوات الأخيرة استخدام البولستر رزن في أعمال نحتية كبديل عن البرونز في مسعى من قبل نحاتينا لإيجاد مواد صناعية جديدة و لإنجاز الأعمال النحتية المختلفة، وهي وإن كانت جديدة على وسطنا الفني فأنها تعد قديمة بمدى ثلاثين عاما ً قبل هذا التأريخ اذ استعملت في استوديوهات أوربا و أمريكا و كان الباحث قد قدم أطروحة تخرج في مادتين هما البولستر رزن و الشمع و استخدامهما في فن النحت وقد تم هذا فيالعام 1980 في جامعة أدواردوكارديل "يوغسلافيا" ليوبليانا وذلك إدراكاً من الباحث في حينها بأهمية هذه المادة و كيفية استخدامها في النحت، و كانت من البحوث الرائدة في هذا المجال وخرجت التوصيات مؤكدة قدرة هذه المادة و تحويرها لاستخدامها في فن النحت وليس حكراً على الصناعات البلاستيكية ، كما كانت تستخدم و لا تزال في صنع أبدان السيارات و الزوارق و الألواح البلاستيكية الشفافة و غيرها وأوصى الباحث بإنجاز بحوث أخرى متقدمة لإنشاء أعمال نحتية كبيرة و صغيرة بهذه المادة
