Background: malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is uncommon neoplasm arising from mesothelial cells of the pleura. The most important etiologic agent is typically related to exposure to minerals fibers such as asbestos and erionite. Computed tomography (CT) plays essential role in characterization, diagnosis and staging of MPM.
Objectives: to determine the value of CT scan in characterization of MPM and its impact on diagnosis, and staging of the disease with histopathological correlation.

Background: Frostbite is a cold weather injury characterized by tissue freezing. It can adversely impact military operations. This study was carried out to demonstrate the
frostbite among Iraqi -Iranian war.
Materials: The over surveillance period was 1st Dec. 1987 to 1st March 1988. A form was tilled for each affected soldier. All cases were followed till Dec. 1988.
Results: The reported frostbite cases were 10 000 cases. The rate was of 100 cases per 100 000 person - year. The foot was the most affected site. High frostbite cases were reported

Patients having anemia, abnormal red cell indices or morphological features of thalassemia minor like hypochromia, microcytosis, target cells erythrocytosis and family history of thalassemia were then investigated for determination of  HbA2 & HbF levels. Three types of medical commercial creams Silvazine, Cinolon Tar and Hydroquinon Domina were incorporated in this study. The medical creams were taken directly and placed uniformly on the glass slide. Each type of pharmaceutical was weighed at 1 mg and dispersed on an area of 1x1 cm. This process ensures same thickness for all samples. The creams were analyzed by using double-beam UV/visible spectrophotometer Metertech SP8001. The absorption spectrum for each of samples was measured against wavelength range of 300–700 nm.
