The present study conducted to study epipelic algae in the Tigris River within Baghdad city for one year from September 2011 to August 2012 due to the importance role of benthic algae in lotic ecosystems. Five sites have been chosen along the river. A total of 154 species of epipelic algae was recorded belongs to 45 genera, where Bacillariophyceae (Diatoms) was the dominant groups followed by Cyanophyceae and Chlorophyceae. The study involved 120 women, who were distributed into two groups of breast tumor patients (30 malignant and 30 benign) and a group of controls (60 women). The patients were referred to the Center for Early Detection of Breast Tumor at Al-Alwayia Hospital for Gynecology and Obstetrics (Baghdad) during the period June-December 2011. Determination of vitamin B₆ (pyridoxine hydrochloride) was described using high performance liquid chromatographic method. The analysis was achieved by cosmos IL 5C₁₈-MS-II column (250 mm x 4.6 mm i. d., 5µm particle size) at room temperature. The mobile phase used was Acetonitrile, buffer solution (Citric acid, Na₂HPO₄ pH4) buffer solution in the ratio (70:30) (V: V). the flow rate was set to 1.25 mL.min^-1 and the retention time 1.82 min with UV-detection at 282 nm. Two hundred staphylococcal isolates isolated from milk and white cheese samples, which were collected from local markets in Baghdad. The predominant species was Staphylococcus aureus 97 isolates (48.5%), followed by S.chromogenes 82 (41%) and 21 (10.5%) S.epidermidis isolates.
