Total of 46 isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae were collected from patients attending (Al-Yarmook Hospital and Education Labs / medical city), and isolates were re-identified, depending on morphology and biochemical tests . Disk diffusion method was employed to determine antibiotic susceptibility of forty six isolates by using eleven antibiotics .The results revealed the sensitivity of six isolates (9.3%) to Imipenem and Meropenem . A number of aqueous samples were collected from river Tigris in Baghdad city, enriched ~1000 times using solid phase extraction (SPE), then extracted the trace concentrations of some polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) using an aqueous two-phase system (ATPS) composed of 1Methylpyridinium chloride [MePy]Cl and KH2PO4 salt. Measurements of radon gas concentrations were carried out for 12 soil samples at 3 sampling depths (surface, 5 cm and 10 cm) collected from (4) locations in south Baghdad suburbs (Bu'aitha) using solid state nuclear track detector CR-39 and sealed can technique. serum total sialic acid (TSA) in individuals with typhoid fever. The individuals were at age of (35-45) years old and (TSA) was measured by resorcinol reagents. The results showed significant reduction in (TSA) compared to control or normal individuals.

Background:

The influence of Diethyl phthalate (DEP) on the optical characteristics of polystyrene solutions in the range between 200 to 400 nm at solvents of different polarities; chloroform, cyclohexane, dichloromethane, and tetrahydrofuran have been recorded. The experimental results showed that the behavior of the photophysical processes of polymer solutions depends on the nature of its environment. The intensity of the absorption and fluorescence spectra depends on the interactions between solvent-solute molecules. The experimental results indicate that the maximum most absorbance bands occur around 262 nm, which depends on the concentration of the quencher. The results did not determine any change in the positions of the most absorption bands.
