Zygnematales an order of green algae in Shaqlawa District Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq, has been studied in eighteen sites, distributed between twelve springs and six along the streams within Shaqlawa district from September2019 to August2020. A total of 116 species belonging to 9 genera were identified. The most dominant genera included Spirogyra and Cosmarium (31, 30) taxa respectively. Out of them, 30 species were recorded for the first time in Iraq. The mutagenic effect of some crucifers widely consumed Lepiduim sativum (Garden cress) and Arugula (Eruca sativa) was studied in comparison to carrot (Daucus carota), using bacterial mutagenic system composed of three bacterial isolates; (Bacillus spp)G3 (Arthrobacter spp)G12, and (Brevibacterium spp)G27 ,. Treatment of isolates with plant extracts led to reduction in survival fraction (Sx)at different levels except that Aurgula extract did not show any inhibitory effect in isolates G12 and G27. Crucifers extracts induced streptomycin resistant mutants in G12 at higher level than G3 , but not in G27. No resistance to rifimpacin was detected in all isolates.

This study includes six species related to the genus Echinops L. (composite) grown in Iraq which are listed below: E.armatus Boiss. & Hausskn., E. bicolor Nabelek, E. cephalotes DC., E.haussknechtii Boiss., E. moulensis Rech., E. nitens Bornm., the geographical distribution and ecological preferences' were documented.
It has been also observed that this genus was distributed near waterfalls, vallies, road side, dry limestone, clay soil and hard rocky soil in Different heights. The most separated species was E.armatus and the least separated one was E.haussknechtii, the species was listed in diagram and distributed on a map.

The present study is focused upon the sedimentology and basin development of the Jeribe and Fatha Formations by using the field observations and microfacies analysis. The area of study situated in the Zurbatiyah area to the south of the Shur sharin valley about 21 km northeast of Badrah city to the southeast of Baghdad. This area lies within the Zagros foreland basin, and located between the Zagros mountains at the northeastern and the Arabian shield at the southeastern.

     The studied succession which including the Jeribe and Fatha Formations were deposited within four associated facies for the Jeribe Formation and three for the Fatha Formation, as shown below: -
