Art as a therapy to relieve symptoms of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), in children
...Show More Authors

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the effectiveness of using Art as therapy to reduce the symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder (ADHD), in primary school children.
A clinical approach was used to test the validity of the hypothesis of our study, conducted on two second and fourth-year primary school pupils from Algiers, aged 7 and 9 years respectively.
In addition to the clinical observation and interview, we made use of the "Conners" scale for a (pre and post intervention) ADHD assessment, consisting of a combination of Art media in the form of mosaic works on purposely prepared panels. After 10 therapy sessions, results revealed the effectiveness of Art therapy in reducing ADHD in primary education children.

Once the diagnosis of ADHD symptoms in the two study subjects, aged 7 and 9 years, was confirmed through the "Conners" ADHD assessment and by carrying out a clinical interview with the parents as well as an in-depth analysis of subjects’ clinical observation and interview, a treatment using Art as therapy was implemented and found to be very effective in reducing the symptoms of ADHD.

In order to attract children’s attention, this type of therapy uses purposely designed graphics, since the assortment of colors made at their disposition prompted them to willingly engage in the activity and cooperate with the specialist implementing the treatment program.
The child begins to ‘own’ the work of Art, absorbing himself with it until it was finished, all along stimulated by positive reinforcement. The piece of mosaic art has become the child’s focal point onto which he projects his frustrations and internal conflicts and discharges his emotions.
Therefore, a child with ADHD can be helped settle down into calmer behaviours, by using Art media to decrease his hyperactivity. The more in-school training workshops and homework, the further this type of therapy would prove itself to be more effective compared to the other treatments used to treat this category of children.

NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF SHEET PILES AS A SEEPAGE CUTTER OFF: AL-KIFIL REGULATOR AS A CASE STUDY
...Show More Authors

Sheet piles are necessary with hydraulic structures as seepage cut-off to reduce the seepage. In this research, the computational work methodology was followed by building a numerical model using Geo-Studio program to check the efficiency of using concrete sheet piles as a cut-off or reducer for seepage with time if the sheet piles facing the drawdown technique. Al-Kifil regulator was chosen as a case study, an accurate model was built with a help of observed reading of the measuring devices, which was satisfactory and helped in checking the sheet piles efficiency. Through the study, three scenarios were adopted (with and without) drawdown technique, it was found that at the short time there's no effect of the drawdown technique on

On the use of Aluminium as a plasmonic material in polarization rotators based on a hybrid plasmonic waveguide
...Show More Authors

: The Aluminium (Al) material emerged as a plasmonic material in the wavelength ranges from the ultraviolet to the visible bands in different on-chip plasmonic applications. In this paper, we demonstrate the effect of using Al on the electromagnetic (EM) field distribution of a compact hybrid plasmonic waveguide (HPW) acting as a polarization rotator. We compare the performance of Al with other familiar metals that are widely used as plasmonic materials, which are Silver (Ag) and Gold (Au). Furthermore, we study the effect of reducing the geometrical dimensions of the used materials on the EM field distributions inside the HPW and, consequently, on the efficiency of the polarization rotation. We perform the study based o

Art Image Compression Based on Lossless LZW Hashing Ciphering Algorithm

Abstract
Color image compression is a good way to encode digital images by decreasing the number of bits wanted to supply the image. The main objective is to reduce storage space, reduce transportation costs and maintain good quality. In current research work, a simple effective methodology is proposed for the purpose of compressing color art digital images and obtaining a low bit rate by compressing the matrix resulting from the scalar quantization process (reducing the number of bits from 24 to 8 bits) using displacement coding and then compressing the remainder using the Mabel ZF algorithm Welch LZW. The proposed methodology maintains the quality of the reconstructed image. Macroscopic and
... Show More
