In this study, some physical and mechanical properties of soil samples collected from the campus site of College of Science, University of Diyalahave been evaluated. All laboratory tests were performed according to the standards of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). The test results showed that the range of soil water content wwas (13.89%-16.34%) with an average of 15.44%. The specific gravity range was (2.58-2.77) with an average of 2.66. The range of Liquid Limit LL was (26.20-35.20%) with an average of 32.22%.The range of Plastic Limit PL was (18.63-23.24%) with average of 21.06%. Iraqi EFL college instructors, who supervise the teaching practice of EFL student teachers, commonly experience the inefficient teaching performance of prospective teachers. This inefficiency is usually due to their inability to make connections between the practical experience and the theoretical knowledge of TEFL. One of the reasons behind this inability may be the employment of traditional ways of training and instructing student teachers. Moreover, it is usually noticed that many Iraqi EFL student teachers have a negative attitude toward the teaching profession. They explicitly state that they would join the teaching force only if they fail to work in any other field.

This  research aimes to expose the levels of geometrical thinking among the students of mathematic department in Basic Education College at AL-Mustansiriyah University throughout their respondes on the test of  geometrical thinking which consists (50) multi- choice items  distributed on the first four levels of Van Hiele ( recognition – analysis – ordering – deduction ).

The validity and the reliability of the test have been investigated. Besides, the difficulty and its discrimination have been measured. The activity of the wrong variables has been measured.

The test has been applied on (180) male and female students of the first, second and third grades.
