AI-Shidyaq is considering one of the scholars' of Arab modern Renaissance. He
enjoyed a dusting nished status among the men of letters of his age. He added many things in
language and literature that made him, during the Arab modern Renaissance, a pioneer
researcher in the 1900s. He had established a state for literature that turnal him in to one of
the critics of his age, to the extent that he was called the Eagle of Lebanon (similar to the
Eagle of Quraish).
He was also called the Jahiz of his age, Voltaire of his generation and Khleel of the
1900s. He was also called Victor Hugo.
He was characterized by a character of smoothness in style, Clarity in meaning and
purpose, an ability to analyze, Describe and write prose and poetry, He was so brilliant in
langrage, Rebetorics and grammar. That why he attracted many powerful people.
He participated in spreading Arabia culture by teaching Arabic in European schools and
compiling many books in different specializations. Al-Jawaeb printing house, Which was
founded by Al-Shidyaq, One of the most famous institutions in Islamic Arab culture in the
nineteenth century. it contributed in printer and publishing many masterpieces of Arab
heritage. Accordingly, many oriantalists praised the great role played by Ah-Shidyaq at that
time. He was dissented by orient list and historian (Gibb) as "one of the great heroes who
defend lslam". The death of Al-Shidyaq was considered a great loss, not only to our Arab
home lard but also to the whole world. This can be proved by his burial, which was attendedby many great scholars and wails'. Besides, his memory is still present up to now, for he is
referred to as one of the pioneers of modern Arab Renaissance.

This study has been conducted to investigate the influence of preservatives(sodium propionate and potassium sorbate) at different levels to extend the storage life of laboratory processed biscuit.The results have shown that When%0.10 sodium propionate was added bacteria and fungi was not found for three months while found in the fourth month of storage.However bacteria and mold didnot grow until the sixth month of storage as %0.20 and %0.30 concentration was used. The object of this work is to investigate the effect of the addition of methanol on the shelf life and color characteristics of novolak resin. Different percentages were added and two mechanisms were suggested for the addition. High ortho structure (1, 2-3) novolak resin was prepared and used in the above investigation. Experimental determination using FT-IR and UV-spectroscopy showed that on the addition of 30% of methanol and according to the second mechanism of addition novolak shelf life increased to 12 months without obvious decomposition and color change.
