Social Media and Academic Excellence
...Show More Authors

The current research seeks to shed light on the role that social media can play, through the optimal use of it by students, in achieving academic excellence. The most prominent aims that constitute it are:Identifying the social sites most used by students; learning how students interact with the published study material on communication sites and benefit from them to achieve their academic excellence; and knowing the connection between using social media and achieving academic excellence, and the role that these sites play in achieving academic excellence. That incorrect use by students leads to adverse results, and thus affects their academic level. Failure of parents to monitor their student’ use of social media leads to the lack of benefit from them in achieving academic excellence. This means the lack of procetures for monitoring these networks makes them more harmful for Students. Moreover, the excessive use of social media by students has a negative impact on the student’s performance of his homework. It has negative effects on his health as well. In light of the results reached, the researchers presented a set of   recommendations, including:Parents should ensure that their children use social media as a tool to improve their children's educational level. Students should better manage their study time and prevent distortions that social media can provide. Students must strike a balance between using the means of communication and their study duties in a way that does not affect their studies. Students, during their use of social media, focus on the scientific importance of these sites instead of using them entertainment.

Genome‐wide association analysis of spike and kernel traits in the U.S. hard winter wheat
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p> A better understanding of the genetic control of spike and kernel traits that have higher heritability can help in the development of high‐yielding wheat varieties. Here, we identified the marker‐trait associations (MTAs) for various spike‐ and kernel‐related traits in winter wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.) through genome‐wide association studies (GWAS). An association mapping panel comprising 297 hard winter wheat accessions from the U.S. Great Plains was evaluated for eight spike‐ and kernel‐related traits in three different environments. A GWAS using 15,590 single‐nucleotide pol</p> ... Show More

From knowledge to practice: Antibiotic prescribing behaviors and antimicrobial stewardship awareness among Iraqi dental students
...Show More Authors

Background Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing global health concern, with inappropriate antibiotic use in dentistry significantly contributing to this problem. While regional studies have examined dental students' antibiotic-related knowledge and practices, comprehensive evidence from Iraq remains limited. Objective The objective of this study is to evaluate the level of knowledge and awareness of antimicrobial stewardship principles and prescribing practices among Iraqi dental students and interns. Methods A cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study was conducted among dental students in the clinical phase of education (fourth and fifth years) and dental interns from multiple Iraqi universities. The survey was distributed fr

Study of Antibiotic Resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii in Intensive Care Units (I.C.Us) and Burn Patients
...Show More Authors

The genus Acinetobacter is a major cause of nosocomial infections; it is increasingly being associated with various epidemics and has become a widespread concern in a variety of hospitals worldwide. Multi-antibiotic resistant Acinetobacter baumannii, is now recognized to be of great clinical significance. Numerous reports relay to the spread of A. baumannii in the hospital settings which leads to enhanced nosocomial outbreaks associated with high death rates. However, many other Acinetobacter spp. also can cause nosocomial infections. This study focused on the role of Acinetobacter spp. as nosocomial pathogens in addition to their persistence, antimicrobial resistance patterns and epidemiology. &nbsp;

Manufacturing Functional Yogurt Enriched with Rhamnus Alaternus Fruit Powder and Studying Some of Its Properties
...Show More Authors

Functional yogurts enriched with plant-based bioactive compounds have emerged as promising dietary strategies to enhance human health. Objective: This study investigated the fortification of yogurt with Rhamnus alaternus fruit powder and its impact on quality characteristics, sensory attributes, and antioxidant activity. Methods: The current study involved preparing a powder from the fruit of the R. alternus plant, which underwent chemical and antioxidant analysis. Fresh buffalo milk was used to prepare yogurt, and products were fortified with the R. alternus powder. Results: R. alternus powder demonstrated significant improvements in taste, flavor, texture, color, and overall acceptability compared to the control. Conclusion: R. alternus p

Association between Serum Metallothionein 2, Metallothionein 4, and Other Biochemical Aspects in Iraqi Infertile Women
...Show More Authors

Women infertility is a common reproductive system disorder. Diagnosis and treatment are characterized by limited availability and high costs. This paper intends to evaluate the levels of endogenous antioxidant proteins metallothionein 2 (MT2) and metallothionein 4 (MT4) in the serum of both infertile and fertile women, as well as to assess the association between these proteins and total oxidant capacity (TOC), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), oxidative stress index (OSI), serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), and serum testosterone. This case-control study involved one hundred eighty Iraqi women, categorized into three categories: primary infertile women (P group), secondary infertile women (S group), and healthy fertile women (C group). Pre- and Post-Cracking Resistance of Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete Flexural Members with GFRP Bars
...Show More Authors

This research investigates the pre- and post-cracking resistance of steel fiber-reinforced concrete specimens with Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bars subjected to flexural loading. The purpose is to modify the ductility and cracking resistance of GFRP-reinforced beams, which are prone to early cracking and excessive deflections instigated by the low modulus of elasticity of GFRP. Six self-compacting concrete specimens (1500×240×200 mm), incorporating steel fibers of two lengths (25 mm and 40 mm) with varying distribution depths, were tested to assess their structural performance. The results indicate significant enhancements in cracking resistance, stiffness, energy absorption, ductility, and flexural strength. Tested beam

Happy City strategy, satisfying individuals' needs by sustainable urban design (Zurich and Dubai as models)
...Show More Authors

Well-being and prosperous living are among the most significant goals of sustainable development, and development strategies should be directed toward satisfying individuals’ needs and living in happy cities. The research explores the potential for establishing a comprehensive strategy by examining different approaches to urban planning and their impact on individuals’ happiness. The research problem is the absence of a clear, standardized vision for developing cities that satisfy individuals’ needs and promote happiness. The hypothesis suggests exploring urban development strategies for the happiest cities in the world to satisfy individuals’ needs and promote happiness. Relying on the concept of the happy city, sustainabil

Assessing Soil Salinity Dynamics in the Middle and South of Iraq Using Remote Sensing Techniques
...Show More Authors

Soil salinization is a pervasive global issue, particularly in semi-arid and dry areas. It constitutes the primary cause of soil degradation, significantly impairing soil functionality and agricultural productivity. Consequently, there is a pressing need for precise procedures to measure soil salinity in various areas, which are necessary for managing, correcting, monitoring, and utilizing saline soils effectively. This study employed remote sensing (RS) techniques as a robust approach for constructing predictive models of soil salinity by examining changes in soil salinity using different salinity indices and comparing them with electrical conductivity (EC) measurements for soil samples. Among the five salinity indices evaluated, t
