Genetic diversity was studied in 31 Iraqi common reed samples , which were collected from Iraqi marshes in Basrah , Messan and Thi-Qar provinces and also from different areas in Baghdad province . Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique was used for evaluation of genetic diversity between collected samples . Seven primers were used for polymorphism detecting between common reed samples . The results revealed 102 bands for the all samples when RAPD-PCR was used . The percentage rate for the monomorphic bands is 6.86% , while the percentage rate for the polymorphic bands is 93.13% , and the numbers of these bands are ranging between 10 to 17 for each used primer .  The UBC1 primer gave the highest number of poly

Seven fish species were collected from the drainage network at Al-Madaen region, south of
Baghdad with the aid of a cast net during the period from March to August 1993. These fishes
were infected with 22 parasite species (seven sporozoans, three ciliated protozoans, seven
monogeneans, two nematodes, one acanthocephalan and two crustaceans) and one fungus
species. Among such parasites, Chloromyxum wardi and Cystidicola sp. are reported here for
the first time in Iraq. In addition, 11 new host records are added to the list of parasites of
fishes of Iraq.

This study deals with the serviceability of reinforced concrete solid and perforated rafters with openings of different shapes and sizes based on an experimental study that includes 12 post-fire non-prismatic reinforced concrete beams (solid and perforated).    Effect of zinc chloride on the immune  functions was studied in male albino mice aged 6-7 weeks. It was administrated orally (1ml) in three concentrations (0.5ppm, 1ppm, 2ppm) for 9 days.         The results showed that the first concentration was not effective comparing with control while the second concentration increased the enhancement of immune system and the cell third one killed the mice 6 hours post administration, so we can conclude that the high dose of ZnCl2 could be harmful for all metabolism.
