Background: Temporomandibular joint disorders refer to a group of heterogeneous pain and dysfunction conditions involving the masticatory system, reducing life quality of the sufferers. Arthrocentesis is simple and less invasive surgical procedure for the treatment of internal derangement than arthroscopy and better than other conservative procedures such as drugs, occlusal appliances and physiotherapy. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of arthrocentesis with injection of hyaluronic acid in the treatment of internal derangement of temporomandibular joint for the restoration of its function, reducing pain and preventing further deterioration of the temporomandibular joint dysfunction. Materials and methods: This study was performed in Al-Sheed Ghazi Al-Hariri Hospital, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, from November 2012 to October 2013, included 60 patients, aged 18 to 45 years with symptoms of temporomandibular joint pain, clicking during function and limited mouth opening. Temporomandibular joint internal derangement was assessed with clinical examination and confirmed with computed tomography scan. Arthrocentesis was done with insertion of two 18 gauge needles in the upper joint compartment, lavaged with ringer’s lactate solution and at the end of the procedure 1ml of hyaluronic acid was injected. Intensity of temporomandibular joint pain was assessed using visual analog scale, maximum mouth opening was assessed with ruler scale and joint clicking was assessed clinically by stethoscope and manual palpation. All the parameters were measured before the procedure then 1 and 3 months later. Results: During 4 months follow-up, clinical examination and comparison of the results showed reduction in pain with success rate 95%, improvement in mouth opening with success rate 100% and clicking disappeared in 95% of patients. Conclusion: The technique of arthrocentesis using Sodium Hyaluronate injection, used in patients who presented with internal derangement, showed therapeutic benefits, simplicity, safety, patients acceptance of the technique and lack of significant side effects and complications.
Background: Leptin and adiponectinare two major adipokines involved in the regulation of energy balance, glucose metabolism, and insulin sensitivity. These adipokines are also expected to have an im-portant role in the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Objective: To measure the levels of leptin, adiponectin, progesterone, luteinizing hor-mone (LH), and follicle-stimulating hor-mone (FSH) in Iraqi patients with type 2 diabetes who are obese or non-obese. Methods: The 120 participants in this study were divided into three groups: Group 2 (G2) included 40 obese patients with type 2 diabetes, Group 3 (G3) in-cluded 40 non-obese patients with type 2 diabetes, and Group 1 (G1) was an age-and sex- matched healthy control group. The low survival from the disease is a direct consequence to the advanced stages at diagnoses. Aim: To document the composite stage of breast cancer among Iraqi patients at the time of diagnosis; correlating the observed findings with other clinical and pathological parameters at presentation. Patients and Methods: A retrospective study enrolling the clinical and pathological characteristics of 603 Iraqi female patients diagnosed with breast cancer. The composite stage of breast cancer was determined according to UICC TNM Classification System of Breast Cancer and the Ameri

Exploring how chemotherapy and anxiety work together to affect the speed at which cancer cells multiply and the immune system’s response model is necessary to come up with ways to stop the spread of cancer. This paper proposes a mathematical model to investigate the impact of psychological scare and chemotherapy on the interaction of cancer and immunity. The proposed model is accurately described. The focus of the model’s dynamic analysis is to identify the potential equilibrium locations. According to the analysis, it is possible to establish three equilibrium positions. The stability analysis reveals that all equilibrium points consi

This study aims to identify the level of patients’ satisfaction among a sample of hospitalized patients in the targeted hospital (Al-Kindy Teaching Hospital, and Al-Yarmook Teaching Hospital). Moreover, this study highlights the reality of services for patients, especially in the targeted governmental teaching hospitals. The Patient Satisfaction with Nursing Care (PSNCS) has been measured in these hospitals through the revised scale by Tang et al, (2013).This scale includes four major domains; Health Information (5 items), Influencing Support (4 items), Decision Control (4 items), Specialized Technical Competence (7 items). The method of surveying patients’ opinions about the degree

The aim of the study is to establish the role of YKL-40 as a biomarker for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) compared to proinflammatory biomarkers and disease activity. The study included 58 patients and 18 control. Diseases activity score (DAS-28) and clinical disease activity index (CDAI) were measured. Serum level of YKL-40, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1B (IL-1β), erythrocyte sedimentation (ESR), rheumatoid factor (RF), C-reactive protein (CRP), and anti-citrullinated protein antibody (ACPA) were assessed. The results showed that the median serum YKL-40 level which was 5.42

Using content analysis, a sample of 157 articles published from July 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021, was analyzed. The study reveals diverse journalistic treatments, with interpretive approaches employed in addressing violations of Iraqi women’s rights. Social violations of women’s rights were the primary focus, and various forms of newspaper articles, including opinion pieces, were commonly used.
The research was carried out in lathhouse on one-year-old apple seedlings of the Ibrahimi variety in the Karma-Fallujah region for the 2021 growing season to study the effect of methods of adding nano-fertilizer and humic acid on seedling growth. A two-factor experiment was designed according to a randomized complete block design, with three replicates and two seedlings per experimental unit, so the number of seedlings was 54. The first factor includes NPK nanofertilizer at three levels (0- and 2-ml L-1 foliar spray and 5 ml L-1 soil application). The second factor is humic acid at three levels (0 and 5 g of seedlings - 1 foliar spray and 10 g of seedlings - 1 soil application). The results of the study show that the NPK nano-fertil
