The relation between facial prognathism and cervical posture in skeletal class I Iraqi adult sample
...Show More Authors

Background: Biologic mechanisms of the form-function interaction are one of important component of orthodontic diagnosis. The purpose of this study is to search for the statistical associations between natural postural and craniofacial morphologic variables of the head. Materials and methods: The sample comprised natural head posture (NHP) cephalograms of 90 subjects, aged 18 to 25 years. Interpretation of the facial structure was made by using both intracranial and the extra-cranial reference lines in AutoCAD computer program. Results The measures of anteroposterior maxillary position, SNA showed a low negative correlations with the anterior cranial base angulation to true vertical (SN.Ver) and with the cranio-cervical position of the head (SN.OPT),(SN.CVT) The measures of anteroposterior mandibular position, SNB and SNPog, both showed moderate correlations with the anterior cranial base angulation to true vertical (SN.Ver) and with the cranio-cervical position of the head (SN.OPT),(SN.CVT) . Conclusion Regarding the correlations between the variables indicating the degree of facial prognathism in the NHP, and the postural variables of the cervical column, it can be argued that in subjects with forward cervical inclination, a relative decrease in facial prognathism is expected.

THE EFFECT of PINEALOCTOMY on the DEVELOPING SUPERIOR Cervical GANGLION of the RAT
...Show More Authors

Back ground: In the present study Pinealoctomy
was used to study the sympathetic innervations of
the pineal gland by the superior cervical ganglion
(SCG) of the albino rat.
Objective: Following Pinealoctomy, it is
expected to observe the Chromatolysis reaction in
some neurons of the SCG if they were to innervate
the pineal gland (i.e. retrograde Chromatolysis
changes).
Methods: Fifty albino rats were used in this study,
Pinealoctomy was done, then after a different time
interval ganglionectomy was done, in order to
study the Chromatolysis in their cell body.
Result: The present study has demonstrated that
the most obvious Chromatolysis reaction in the
neurons which innervate the pineal gland a

Assessment of the Healthy Women by Detection and Determination of Cells in Conventional Pap Stained Cervical Smear Images
...Show More Authors

Introduction: A Pap test can detect pre-cancerous and cancerous cells in the vagina and uterine cervix. Cervical cancer is the easiest gynecologic cancer to be prevented and diagnosed using regular screening tests and follow-up. This study aimed to estimate the cytological changes and the precancerous lesions using Pap smear test and visual inspection of the cervices of Iraqi women, and also to determine the possible relationship of this cancer with patients’ demographic characteristics. Methods: The study included 140 women aged (18-67) years old referred to the National Cancer Research Center (NCRC), Baghdad, Iraq, during the period 2011-2016. Both visual inspections of the uterine cervix and Papanicolaou smear screening were performed

Background: During the pandemic, Corona virus forced many people, especially students, to spend more time than before on the computer and smartphone to study and communicate. The poor posture of the body may have worse effect on its body parts , most of which is the cervical spine (forward head posture). Objective: To assess the incidence of neck pain and the associated factors among undergraduate medical students related to position during E learning Subjects and Methods: Cross-sectional study was conducted among medical students in three Iraqi universities during 2021. Illiteracy has spread in the last years, although it was eliminated in the 1980s. The return of illiteracy brings ignorance, illness, backwardness and regression among nations. It has taken many types, mainly alphabetical, scientific and computer illiteracy. Hence, the increasing nature of illiteracy has attracted the attention of governments and societies alike. This may touch the reality of societies starting with their youth unless those, who are in charge, will find workable solutions for the existing problems. The results of the study revealed that there is a real disaster awaiting the next generation after years of stray, and ignorance of the people in charge who are too engaged in getting their privileges to care about this proble

The effectiveness of intense pulsed light (home use) device in facial hair reduction
...Show More Authors

Background: Intense pulsed light (IPL) devices produce polychromatic incoherent high-intensity pulsed light with a specified wavelength spectrum, fluence, and pulse duration through the use of flashlamps and bandpass filters. Similar to lasers, IPL devices operate on the selective photothermolysis principle, with melanin acting as the chromophore. Despite this similarity, they are constructed differently and produce different amounts of light Aim of the study: To investigate the efficacy of IPL home-use device in hair reduction technique for women with unwanted facial hair. Subjects and methods: The study was conducted in Baghdad on forty-five female subjects with Fitzpatrick skin phototype (II to IV) and black, brown hair in a period of ei
