Background: A diverse group of bacteria live in biofilms in the oral cavity. On dental surfaces biofilms form plaque that is potentially involved in caries and periodontal diseases. Periodic studying of plaque microflora and their antimicrobial sensitivity patterns strongly affects the clinical practice in plaque-induced oral diseases. Materials and methods: Dental plaque samples were collected from 22 patients having ages ranged between 33 and 49 years with gingivitis that met the study criteria. Plaque, gingival and gingival bleeding indices (PI, GI, GBI) were measured for each patient. Laboratory procedures included microbiological examination of plaque samples followed by antibiotic sensitivity testing using disc diffusion method were also proceeded. Results: All patients were categorized as moderate gingivitis (GI: 1.1-2.0), the recorded PI were 1.2-2.7. Bleeding was observed in all subjects. Gingivitis was significantly higher in males (P=0.021). A total of 121 bacterial species were isolated from plaque samples, Facultative anaerobes constitute 83%. The most frequently isolated bacteria were α-hemolytic streptococci (36.36%) and Enterococcus faecalis (14.87%) among facultative, and Fusobacterium sp., Actinomyces sp., Veillonella sp. among obligate anaerobes (3.31%, 2.48%, 2.48%, respectively). Imipenem (77.2%) and Ciprofloxacin (59.4%) were the most effective agents against both bacterial groups. Multi-drug resistance (MDR) was recorded in most of the isolates (> 90%). A very highly significant relation between MDR with each of the above clinical criteria was recorded (P-value= 0.000). Conclusions: The high level of MDR isolates is of great clinical concern and requires an urgent reassessment of the policies of antibiotic prescription in dental settings.
Recent studies highlighted the hazard of emerging antimicrobial resistance (AMR) bacteria in domesticated animals, with multidrug resistance (MRD) patterns in poultry recorded with alarming intensity as a major reservoir. This resistance has been associated with the misuse and overuse of antimicrobial agents in poultry farms. This current study aimed to determine the multidrug resistance (MDR) patterns of Escherichia coli isolated from broiler chickens. A total of 32 human samples were taken from worker handlers (positive: 4 samples, 12.5%), and 40 samples were collected from poultry chickens (positive: 13 samples, 32.5%). The findings revealed marked resistance against six of the ten agents in the isolates (MDR being 100% in all samples an

The data collected from prescriptions were calculated and analyzed according to the WHO prescribing guidelines. The data showed that the mean of drugs included in single prescription was 3.4, and 12% of prescribed drugs were written as generic names; moreover, the percentage of antibiotics, corticosteroids and anxiolytics were 33.3%, 11.4% and 23.8% respectively. Those results indicate the irrational use of drugs when compared with the world health organization standard values

In addition, studying biped robots is important in order to understand human locomotion and to develop and improve control strategies for prosthetic and orthotic limbs. This paper discusses the main challenges encountered in the design of biped robots, such as modeling, stability and their walking patterns. The subject is difficult to deal with because the biped mechanism intervenes with mechanics, control, electronics and artificial intelligence. In this paper, we collect and introduce a systematic discussion of modelin
Interleukins (IL-2 and IL-4) are increased in asthmatics and were reported to induce resistance to steroid therapy in some patients who fail to get benefit from glucocorticoids when used in full dose and for long period of time. In this context, the present study was conducted on Iraqi patients to provide additional laboratory mean, beside the clinical diagnosis, for the decision whether the asthma is steroid sensitive or resistant by monitoring the level of immunoglobulins, complement proteins and interleukins among asthmatic patients (steroid sensitive or resistant) and the possible contribution of other factors like age, sex and environments in the development of steroid resistance. A total number of 55 asthmatics and 28 normal subjec

Aim of study: to review the clinical, lab investigation and imaging techniques, in pediatric age group affected COVID-19 to help medical experts better understand and supply timely diagnosis and treatment.
Subjects and methods: this study is a retrospective descriptive clinical study. The medical records of patients were analyzed. Information’s recorded include demographic data, exposure history, symptoms, signs, laboratory findin

The objectives of this study were To investigate the relationship between particular social determinants of health (SDH) variables namely food and housing insecurity, social support, income, and education and clinical outcomes, including HbA1c levels, medication adherence, and patient satisfaction among Iraqi diabetic patients. A cross-sectional study involving 212 diabetic patients in Iraq was conducted. Participants attending a healthcare facility in Iraq filled out validated questionnaires regarding social determinants of health, medication adherence, and satisfaction. HbA1c rea

Many intracellular enzymes like (alkaline phosphatase- (ALP), aspartate aminotransferase- (AST) and alanine aminotransferase- (ALT) that are released outside cells into the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) and saliva after destruction of periodontal tissue during periodontitis. This study was conducted to determine the periodontal health status and the levels of salivary enzymes (ALP, AST and ALT) of the study and control groups and to correlate the levels of these enzymes with clinical periodontal parameters in each study group. This study assessed the reliability of the insertion torque of dental implants by relating it to the implant stability quotient values measured by the Osstell device. Material and methods: This study included healthy, non-smoker patients with no history of diabetes or other metabolic, or debilitating diseases that may affect bone healing, having non-restorable fractured teeth and retained roots in the maxillary non-molar sites. Primary dental implant stability was evaluated using a torque ratc
