CBCT analysis of impacted maxillary canines
...Show More Authors

Background: This study designed to shade light on the important role of CBCT in accurate localization of the impacted maxillary canines. Materials and method: Fifty two unilateral and bilateral impacted maxillary canines from 30 patients (24 females and 6 males) were evaluated by a volumetric 3D images obtained from cone beam CT. All samples attended to the specialist health center of dentistry in Al-Sadder City referred to CBCT by oral surgeons or orthodontists to detect the exact position of impacted upper canine in cases when there was no bulging buccally or palatally which aids to detect the exact position. Results: Mesio-palatal angulations had the highest rate (63.5%) followed by mesio-labial (19.2%), vertical (labial) (9.6%), disto-palatal (5.8%) and disto-labial (1.9%). The relation between impacted canine and the adjacent teeth regarding to the attachment was significant only with lateral incisor. No cases of root resorption of the adjacent teeth were recorded. Bilateral impacted teeth were found in 22 patients which is highly significant (especially in females), while unilateral impaction was found only in 8 patients especially in females. Impacted canine was more prominent in female whether unilateral or bilateral. Conclusions: CBCT imaging of impacted canines can show the following: presence or absence of the canine, angulations of the long axis of the tooth, relative labial and palatal positions and proximity to adjacent teeth. In short, CBCT imaging is clearly advantageous in imaging and management of impacted canines.

A Mathematical Analysis of Wind-Driven Bottom-Up Interactions in a Plant–Ungulate–Wolf Ecosystem
...Show More Authors

Understanding how abiotic influences affect organisms and their interactions within ecological communities has long been of interest to ecologists. The significance of this comprehension has increased given rapid human-induced climate change. Wind speed variation is one of the less researched effects of climate change, as wind speeds worldwide are generally falling. Although wind is a fairly universal component of the environment, relatively little work has been conducted to integrate our knowledge of how wind affects interactions between different species. In this study, the influence of wind on bottom-up trophic interactions in the plant–ungulate–wolf food chain has been investigated through mathematical modeling. Positivity and bound

Inverse modeling, analysis and control of twin rotor aerodynamic systems with optimized artificial intelligent controllers
...Show More Authors

This paper suggests a novel optimal inverse Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural network model for the control of Twin Rotor Aerodynamic Systems (TRAS), such as Multi-Input–Multi-Output (MIMO) systems with high nonlinearity and coupling effects between channels. After analyzing and linearizing the dynamic model, TRAS is decoupled into two Single Input Single Output (SISO) systems, thereby creating vertical (pitch model) and horizontal (yaw model) systems. The relationship between the output angle of each subsystem and the input voltage is modeled using the inverse RBF neural network. The weights, biases, centers and widths of the Gaussian function are unknown parameters of the proposed inverse neural model, and they are obtained usi

Characterization of fluid properties and pseudo-fraction analysis for oils with low gas oil ratios
...Show More Authors

The Sadi reservoir is one of the largest and most important unconventional tight oil reservoirs in southern Iraq. However, it suffers from low production rates, necessitating many development strategies that require a correct and reliable characterization of reservoir fluid properties. Whilst these properties are originally obtained from laboratory experiments, measurement errors often occur despite rigorous workflows, which negatively affect the calculation of reservoir fluid properties. This study utilizes the fluid thermodynamics characterization program (PVTp) to generate a reliable model for determining the oil properties of Sadi reservoir. A methodology was developed to simulate fluid thermodynamic tests, including Differ

Heat Transfer Analysis of Conventional Round Tube and Microchannel Condensers in Automotive Air Conditioning System
...Show More Authors

In this paper, an experimental analysis of conventional air-cooled and microchannel condensers in automotive vapor compression refrigeration cycle concerning heat transfer coefficient and energy using R134a as a refrigerant was presented. The performance of two condensers and cycles tested regarding ambient temperature which it was varied from 40oC to 65oC, while the indoor temperature and load have been set to be 23oC and 2200 W respectively. Results showed that the microchannel condenser has 224 % and 77 % higher refrigerant side and air side heat transfer coefficient respectively than the coefficients of the conventional condenser. Thus, the COP, in case of using the microchannel

SYNTHESIS, THERMAL ANALYSIS AND CORROSION INHIBITION STUDY OF MODIFIED POLYVINYL ALCOHOL / CARBOXYMETHYL CELLULOSE / AuNPs, AgNPs
...Show More Authors

A great deal of attention has recently been given to the use of polyvinyl alcohol and its suitably modified derivatives as aqueous and coating phase corrosion inhibitors because of their polymeric nature, relatively high aqueous phase solubility, and biodegradable properties. The purpose of this study was to investigate the thermal stability and inhibition efficiency of modified polyvinyl alcohol/carboxymethyl cellulose. Gold or silver nanoparticles were used to accomplish this goal. In the current study, polyvinyl alcohol reacted with newly synthesized compounds [I-VI] in DMF to produce modifications of polyvinyl alcohol [VII-XII]. To create [XIII-XVIII], modified polyvinyl alcohol is blended with carboxymethyl cellulose. Then, ble

Inexpensive DC to AC Inverter Device for Artificial Saline Soils Resistivity Analysis
...Show More Authors

In aired and semiarid areas like Iraq, saline soil may be considered one of the major concerns. In addition to environmental effects, they may produce significant geotechnical hazards that could interrupt the structure stability depending on the salt type and its concentration. So, it is crucial to identify the degree of the soil salinity with a proper tool for getting a qualified assessment and consequently offering a suitable treatment. In this paper, the electrical resistivity technique has been employed to detect the degree of soil salinity by considering a new electronic system. The system used a single-phase Direct Current (DC) to Alternating Current (AC) inverter accompanied by a transformer. Natural soils became artificially saline

AVO analysis for high amplitude anomalies using 2D pre-stack seismic data
...Show More Authors

Amplitude variation with offset (AVO) analysis is an 1 efficient tool for hydrocarbon detection and identification of elastic rock properties and fluid types. It has been applied in the present study using reprocessed pre-stack 2D seismic data (1992, Caulerpa) from north-west of the Bonaparte Basin, Australia. The AVO response along the 2D pre-stack seismic data in the Laminaria High NW shelf of Australia was also investigated. Three hypotheses were suggested to investigate the AVO behaviour of the amplitude anomalies in which three different factors; fluid substitution, porosity and thickness (Wedge model) were tested. The AVO models with the synthetic gathers were analysed using log information to find which of these is the

K-Nearest Neighbor Method with Principal Component Analysis for Functional Nonparametric Regression
...Show More Authors

This paper proposed a new  method to study functional non-parametric regression data analysis with conditional expectation in the case that the covariates  are functional and the Principal Component Analysis was utilized to de-correlate the multivariate response variables. It  utilized the formula of the Nadaraya Watson estimator (K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN)) for prediction with different types of the semi-metrics, (which are based on Second Derivative and Functional Principal Component Analysis (FPCA))  for measureing the closeness between curves.  Root Mean Square Errors is used for the  implementation of this model which is then compared to the independent response method. R program is used for analysing data. Then, when  the cov
