Background: This study aimed to evaluate the effect addition of polyester fibers on the some mechanical properties of heat cured acrylic resin (implant strength, flexural strength and hardness) Materials and methods: Ninety specimens were used in the study. Thirty specimens were used for impact strength measurements (80mm X 10mm X 4mm) length, width and thickness respectively. The specimens divided into three test groups (n=10), first group formed from heat cure acrylic resin without fiber reinforcement. Second group was formed from heat cure acrylic resin was reinforced with 2 mm length polyester fiber and third group was formed from heat cure acrylic resin reinforced with 4mm length polyester fiber, impact strength measured by impact testing device. 30 specimens with (65 mm X 10mm 2.5mm) length, width and thickness respectively were used in 3 groups (n=10) flexural strength test. The flexural strength was measured by using flexural testing device. 30 specimens with (65mm X 10m X 2.5mm) length width and thickness respectively were used for hardness test. The specimens were divided into 3 group (n=10) as in impact strength and flexural strength. Hardness measured by using (shore D hardness tester TH210). Results: revealed statistically significant increase on impact strength especially on 4mm length when compared to control group. Significant decreases in flexural strength of PMMP. When compared to control group with 4mm length fiber reinforcement. Non significant decrease when compared control group with 2mm length fiber reinforced PMMA. Significant decrease in hardness of PMMA resin after reinforcement with 2mm, 4mm lengths polyester fibers. Conclusions: Strengthening with the polyester fiber decreased the flexural strength and hardness of the resin, but increased impact strength. Thus when high impact acrylic resins are needed, fiber reinforced resins may be the material of choice.
The interlaminar fracture toughness of polymer blends reinforced by glass fiber has
been investigated. Epoxy (EP), unsaturated polyester(UPE), polystyrene (PS),
polyurethane (PU) and their blends with different ratios (10%PS/90%EP),
(20%PS/80%EP), (20%PU/80%EP) and (20%PU/80%UPE) were chosen as a matrices A
sheet of composites were prepared using hand lay -up method, these sheet were cut as the
double cantilever beam (DCB) specimen to determine interlaminar fracture toughness of
these composites .Its found that, blending of EP,UPE with 20% of PU will improve the
interlaminar fracture toughness ,but the adding of 10% PS, 20%PS to EP will decrease
the interlaminar toughness of these composites.
The photooxidative degradation process of plastics caused by ultraviolet irradiation leads to bond breaking, crosslinking, the elimination of volatiles, formation of free radicals, and decreases in weight and molecular weight. Photodegradation deteriorates both the mechanical and physical properties of plastics and affects their predicted life use, in particular for applications in harsh environments. Plastics have many benefits, while on the other hand, they have numerous disadvantages, such as photodegradation and photooxidation in harsh environments and the release of toxic substances due to the leaching of some components, which have a negative effect on living organisms. Therefore, attention is paid to the design and use of saf

The experiment was carried out to study the effect oftwo concentration of NPK 0.25 and 0.50g/kg soil on some physiological characters of Apium graveolens. The results showed that the both concentration increased percentage of germination, plant height, Length of roots, roots diameter, absolute growth rate (AGR), relative growth rate (RGR) and percentage of N, P and K in plants
The central marshes are one of the most important wetlands/ecosystems in the southern area of Iraq. This study evaluates the bed soil's mechanical, physical, and chemical properties at certain southern Iraqi central marshes sites. This was conducted to investigate their types and suitability for enhancing the agricultural reality of most field crops and for construction purposes. Soil samples were collected from 15 sites at 10-100 cm depth. Hence, numerous parameters were determined: index properties, unconfined compressive strength, direct shear strength, consolidation, texture, and sieve analysis, water content, specific gravity, dry density, permeability, pH, total soluble salts (TSS), organic materials (OM) and total sulfate con

The results showed that the 60/40 (HDPE/LDPE) blend exhibited superior mechanical performance, including tensile strength, impact resistance, and hardness, while the 80/20 blend demonstrated higher thermal stability and morphological uniformity. The results obtained demonstrate the potential for using HDPE/LDPE blends in many areas, including packaging, insulation, and engineering products that require a balance between durability and thermal stability. They also suggest their potential future application in agricultural irrigation pipes, which require highly reliabl

Moreover , the growth of the world pollution by plastic waste has been tremendous. The aim of this research is to investigate the change in mechanical properties of HPC with added waste plastics in concrete. For this purpose 2.5%, 5% and 7.5% in volume of natural fine aggregate in the HPC mixes were replaced by an equal volume of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) waste , got by shredded PET bottles. Different welded specimens were produced by employing variable rotating speeds and welding speeds. Tensile strength of the produced joints was tested at room temperature and the the effecincy was assessed, it was 75% of the base metal at rotational speed 1500 rpm and weld speed 50 mm/min. Hardness of various zones of FSW welds are presented and analyzed by means of brinell hardness number . Besides to thess tests the bending properties investigat

Ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) and silica fume (SF) are common binder materials in producing EGC. However, due to the scarcity and high cost of these materials in some countries, sustainable alternatives are needed. This research focused on producing eco-friendly EGC made of cheaper and more common pozzolanic waste materials that are rich in aluminum and silicon. Rice husk ash (RHA), granite waste powder (GWP), and volcanic pumice powder (VPP) were used as partial substitutions (10–50%) of GGBFS in EGC. The effects of these wastes on workability, unit weight, compressive strength, tensile strengt
