Background: Poly (methylmethacrylate) is not ideal in every aspect and has disadvantages such as insufficient surface hardness, increase water sorption and poor impact resistance and the latter being the primary cause of fracture of denture base resins. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of addition of silanized nano- hydroxyapatite (HA) on some properties of heat cured acrylic denture base material. Materials and methods: HA nano particles were first silanized with ï§MPS (tri methacryloxypropyletrimethoxy silane coupling agent) then ultrasonicated with methylmethacrylate (monomer) to disperse agglomerated nano particles and mixed with polymer. 2% by wt of HA nano particles was selected as the best concentration that added to the denture base material according to the pilot study.(100) specimens were prepared by conventional water bath processing technique and divided to two groups: 50 specimens for control group or 0% HA and 50 for experimental group or 2% HA then each group was subdivided to five groups with 10 specimens for each test: impact strength, transverse strength, surface hardness, surface roughness, water sorption and water solubility. Results: highly significant increase in impact strength and surface hardness after addition of 2% HA nano particles but not significant decrease in water sorption whereas solubility was significantly decreased. Surface roughness was significantly increased as compared with control group but remained within the acceptable limit less than 2ïm. HA nanoparticles addition highly decreased the transverse strength value. Conclusion The addition of 2% HA nano particles considerably improved the impact strength, surface hardness and had positive effect on water sorption and solubility. Whereas the same concentration tend to highly decreased transverse strength and increase surface roughness.
In this research, a group of complexes were prepared which were derived from Schiff base ligands, which is called (1E,1'E)-1,1'-(1,2-phenylene)bis(N-(2,4-dichlorophenyl) methanimine) (L) with ortho-phenanthroline (o-phen).The prepared complexes areM(II) [Co(II),Ni(II),Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II),and Hg(II)].A range of spectroscopic and technical techniques have been used to characterizethese materials, including:The FTIR, 1H-NMR, LC-Mass Spectrum, UV-Visbale, molar conductance, and magnaticmoment, atomic absorbtion, chlorid contents. Spectral results obtainedare showen that (ortho-phen) and (L) behave as neutral coordinating to the central metal ion by the donatingatoms(N2)of the both compounds. The geometry sha

Many physico-chemical and spectroscopic techniques, including melting point, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, UV-Vis, FT-IR, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), were used to characterize the Schiff base ligand and all metal complexes. The octahedral geometry of all the complexes [MLCl2] is confirmed by spectroscopic analyses. In this research, crushed bricks or thermostone were partially replaced by (20%) by the weight of sand and volumetrically measured. The results showed that the steel reinforcement of internally cured concrete showed a slight increase in corrosion up to 300 days of exposure to the saline solution (containing 3.5% NaCl). LUMO levels, density of state and density of bonds in addition to spectroscopic properties like IR spectra, Raman spectra, force constant and reduced masses as a function of frequency) of coronene C24 and reduced graphene oxide C24OX , where x=1-5, were studied.. The methodology employed was Density Functional Theory (DFT) with Hybrid function B3LYP and 6-311G** basis sets. The energy gap was calculated for C24 to be 3.5 eV and for C24Ox was from 0.89 to 1.6862 eV for x=1-5 ,respectively. These energy gaps values are comparable to the measured gap of Graphene (1-2.2 eV). The spectroscopic properties were compared with experimental measurements, specificall
