Back ground: Oral lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the mucous membrane of the mouth. Several researchers suggest that oxidative stress is implicated in the pathogenesis of this disorder. It has been hypothesized that melatonin is powerful anti-oxidants and can easily cross the cell membrane and is considered a free radical scavenger of Hydroxid, Oxygen and Nitrogen dioxide, cortisol as a stress hormone and the immunoglobulin A as first line of defense and protection to the mucous membrane of the mouth are interrelated factors for the emergence of oral lichen planus. Aim of this study was to evaluate the level of melatonin, Cortisol and IgA in saliva of patients with oral lichen planus lesions in comparison with participants with normal oral mucosa. Materials and methods: In this study seventy five subjects with age 18 and over were included. The subjects were divided into two groups; control group, this group comprised of 41 subjects with normal oral mucosa and the study group, which comprised of 34 subjects with clinically and histopathologically diagnosed oral lichen planus lesion. The samples were selected from patients attending College of Dentistry/University of Baghdad and cases that recruited to the AL-Emmam Ali hospital / in Baghdad /Dermatology Department. Samples collection started from 2/ may 2013 to 23/ January 2014.Saliva samples were collected between 10-12 Am. High performance chromatography (HPLC) analyzing technique was used for estimating the salivary melatonin and cortisol level. IgA level was measured by ELIZA method. Results: The mean salivary melatonin level in patients with oral lichen planus was 4.786 µg/ml and the mean saliva melatonin level in normal person was 8.759 µg/ml. significant difference (p<0.01) was observed in the salivary melatonin levels between the study and control group. The mean salivary cortisol level in patients with OLP was 0.730 µg / ml and the mean saliva cortisol level in normal persons was 0.165 µg/ml. significant difference (p<0.01) was observed in the salivary cortisol levels between the study and control, group. The mean salivary IgA level in patients with OLP was 221.4 µg/ml and the mean saliva IgA level in normal person was 125.8 µg/ml. There was a high significant difference (p<0.01) the study and control groups. Conclusions: The level of salivary melatonin was lower in patients with oral lichen planus, however cortisol and IgA was higher when comparing the salivary level with that of the control groups.
Hepatitis, a condition of liver’s inflammation that can be self-limiting or, in certain chances, it may lead to liver cancer, fibrosis or cirrhosis. Hepatitis viruses mainly cause hepatitis in the world. People with hepatitis C have predominant chances to develop diabetes as HCV virus participates in causing type 2 diabetes. HCV virus causes pathogenesis in two ways: it either directly destroys the β cells of pancreas or contributes to the specific autoimmunity of β cells. The present cross sectional study was done in Wazirabad Tahsil of Gujranwala District to analyze the percentage of patients suffering from hepatitis C who had the risk of diabetes mellitus. The ABO blood group system is highly polymorphic, with more than 20 distinct sub-groups; study findings are usually related to ABO phenotype, but rarely to the ABO genotype and animal models are unsatisfactory because their antigen glycosylation structure is different from humans. Both the ABO and Rh blood group systems have been associated with a number of diseases, but this is more likely related to the presence or absence of these tissue antigens throughout the body and not directly or primarily related to their presence on RBCs. A total of fifty-two 52 patients without complication of DMII, two hundred sixteen 216 patients with complication of DMII and seventy-one 71 person as healthy control were included in the study. This study focuses on the preliminary evaluation of surface functional properties of chitosan films reinforced with TiO₂ or ZnO nanoparticles (NPs). These films were prepared at different loading ratios using the solution-casting method. Structural and morphological properties were characterized using FTIR and FESEM, while functional properties were evaluated by surface wettability, UV–Vis spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and antibacterial activity testing. FTIR results showed significant changes in abs

It was also aimed to investigate ASXL1 point mutations in newly AML patients as compared to healthy control. The study comprised of 43 AML Iraqi patients and their ages ranged between 16-75 years. It included 23 females and 20 males compared with 20 healthy controls. Results revealed that the extracted DNA from 30 AML patients and amplified by PCR to obtain ASXL1 gene from exon 12 showed larger bands (479). Among forty three patients, two of them displayed point mutations of deletion and substitution, while the others were normal since no mutations were detected. The total of mutations in two mutated patients was 27 mutations, the m

Prescribing drugs to patients to treat ailments or reducing their morbidity may not be enough, even if the drugs were all indicated and in the right dose. Clinical pharmacists play a pivotal role in conducting information and instruction to patients and conveying feedback to treating physician when appropriate, and the final goal is in the interest of the patient.
