Synthesis, characterization, biological activity, and thermal studies for new metal ion complexes with Schiff base derived from dimedone and 2-hydroxybenzohydrazide
...Show More Authors

New complexes were synthesized with Schiff base tetradentate ligand (L). The ligand was synthesized by the condensation reaction of the dimedone with 2-hydroxybenzohydrazide. The formula of complexes [M(L) (H2O)2].Cl2, where M represents Mn(II), Ni(II) Cu(II), [Co(L)Cl.H2O]Cl and [Zn(L)(H2O)2]Cl2.2H2O. The ligand was identified using m.p., UV-Vis, FT-IR, Mass, 1H-NMR, and C.H.N. These complexes were characterized using techniques including infrared, UV-Vis absorption, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductivity, elemental analyses, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), chloride content determination using Mohr’s method, and atomic absorption spectroscopy. The measurements revealed that the complexes are electrolytic. FT-IR results demonstrated that the ligands act as tetradentate, coordinating to the metal through the carbonyl (C=O) group of benzohydrazide and the nitrogen atom of the azomethine (-C=N-) group. Furthermore, thermogravimetric and infrared analyses indicated that water molecules are also coordinated to the metal. All complexes were found to have an octahedral geometry. Based on the TGA assay, the ligands and complexes were found to be highly stable. The prepared complexes and ligands have activity against two different types of Gram-positive (S. aureus and B. subtilis) and Gram-negative (E. coli and P. aeruginosa) bacteria, as well as against bacteria and Candida fungi. The results showed that they can be used as antibacterial and give good inhibition efficiency. Synthesis, characterization and anticonvulsant evaluation of new derivatives derived from 5-methoxy-2-mercapto benzimidazole
...Show More Authors

A new series of 5-methoxy-2-mercapto benzimidazole derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of 5-methoxy- 2-mercaptobenzimidazole with chloroacetic acid and affords 2-((5-methoxy-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)thio) acetic acid (1),which on cyclization with acetic anhydride and pyridine gives 7- methoxybenzo[4,5]imidazo[2,1-b]thiazol- 3(2H)-one(2), which on condensation with different aryl aldehydes in the presence of anhydrous sodium acetate in glacial acetic acid, furnishes a arylidene thiazolidinone. The purity of the synthesized compounds was confirmed by melting point and TLC.The structures were established by different spectral analysis such as FTIR,1HNMR, and CHN analysis. The newly synthesized compounds (3a-d) were in vivo evaluated f

SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION, ANTIMICROBIAL STUDIES, AND MOLECULAR DOCKING STUDIES OF TRANSITION METAL COMPLEXES FORMED FROM A BENZOTHIAZOLE-BASED AZO LIGAND
...Show More Authors

The azo ligand obtained from the diazotization reaction of 2-aminobenzothiazole and 4- nitroaniline yielded a novel series of complexes with Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) ions. The complexes were investigated using spectral techniques such as UV-Vis, FT-IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopic analyses, LC-MS and atomic absorption spectrometry, electrical conductivity, and magnetic susceptibility. The molar ratio of the synthesized compounds was determined using the ligand exchange ratio, which revealed the metal-ligand ratios in the isolated complexes were 1:2. The synthesized complexes were tested for antimicrobial activity against S. aureus, E. coli, C. albicans, and C. tropicalis bacterial species. Additionally, their binding affinities we

Synthesis, Characterization of New Isatin-Ibuprofen Derivatives with Expected Biological Activity
...Show More Authors

Ibuprofen is one of the most important members of NSAIDs, named aryl propionic acid derivative. Isatin (1H-indole-2,3-dione) is an important molecule of heterocyclic compounds that have many biological activities. This work illustrates the synthesis of new ibuprofen-isatin derivatives by connecting ibuprofen hydrazide with different isatin derivatives by a condensation reaction, followed by characterization by fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) spectroscopy. The anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated by using the egg-white induce edema method for all the synthesized compounds (5-8), the compounds 5 and 6 showed better anti-inflammatory activity than ibuprofen as a standard
