Hepatitis G virus infection among Iraqi patients with Chronic liver diseases.
...Show More Authors

Background: The hepatitis G virus( HGV), also called hepatitis GB virus, as a member of the Flaviviridae family distantly related to hepatitis C virus (HCV), Little is known about the frequency of HGV infection, the nature of the illness, or how to prevent it. What is known is that transfused blood containing HGV has caused some cases of hepatitis. They infect humans, but are not known to cause human disease. This virus can be transmitted efficiently by blood transfusion and by other parenteral mechanisms. Transient and long lasting infections with HGV have been documented in man.
Patients and methods: HBs Ag, Anti-HCV IgG and Anti-HGV IgG were detected by Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA).HCV RNA on the other hand, has been detected using PCR technique in the serum of 75 Iraqi patients with chronic liver diseases in comparison to 15 healthy individuals.
Results: HGV infection was detected in 25% of blood donors, 30% of chronic hepatitis C, 25% of chronic hepatitis B, and 20% of cryptogenic chronic liver disease. HGV infected patients tended to be younger than non-infected patients but no differences concerning sex, possible source of infection, clinical manifestations, biochemical and virological parameters, or severity of liver lesions were found.
Conclusions: The percentage of HGV infection in chronic liver disease seems to be relatively high in our area 19 out of 90cases (21.11%). Infection with HGV does not seem to play a significant pathogenic role in patients with chronic liver disease related to chronic HBV or HCV infection, or in those with cryptogenic chronic liver disease.

Clinical And Angiographic Characteristics Of Left Main Coronary Artery Disease, A Retrospective Study
...Show More Authors

Background : Left main coronary artery (LMCA) disease represents important and serious portion of coronary artery disease(CAD).
Aim: The aim of this study is to estimate the incidence of LMCA disease among patients with CAD undergoing coronary artery angiography and to evaluate clinical characteristics of patients with LMCA disease.
Methods: The study involved review of clinical notes and coronary angiography of 1020 patients with CAD in Ibin Al Bitar hospital for cardiac surgery between April and September 2004.This review included evaluation of electrocardiogram (ECG), echocardiogram(ECHO), ECG exercise test (EET) and coronary angiography.
Results: Among 56 patients proved to have left main corona

Biological effects of different doses of Piroxicam in albino males rats
...Show More Authors

Current study aimed to investigate the effect of piroxicam on some hematological
and biochemcal parameters. For this reason forty males mature Sprage Dawlley rats
were divided into four equal groups. control group administrated distilled water
(G1), and three groups administrated (20mg/kg,30mg/kg,40mg/kg) body weight of
piroxicam for 45 days. The results showed significant decrease (P<0.05) in
hemoglobin (Hb) and packed ceq volume (PCV) in groups treated with
(30,40)mg/kg of piroxicam, while the treated groups produced significant increease
(P<0.05) in the total white blood cell count (WBC). On the serum biochemical
porameters, Piroxicam caused increase in the level of liver enzyme amunotans ferase
(ALT)

The present study aims to give some details about the normal anatomical and histological structure of the liver, pancreas and gall bladder in Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758 and Mesopotamichthys sharpeyi (Günther, 1874). Anatomical results revealed that the liver of C. carpio is a reddish-brown in color, located in the anterior part of abdominal cavity and dispersed between most of the intestines, which is divided into two lobes; while in M. sharpeyi the liver is light brown in color located in the anterior part of abdominal cavity and extends to the end of the intestinal tract with two lobs. The gallbladder situated in the right side of the liver in both species. Histological results in both species showed that the liver consists

Comparative Histopathological Effects Of Acetamiprid And Its Nanometric Form On Albino Mice
...Show More Authors

Formulations based on nanomaterials have the ability to reduce the consuming of hazardous pesticides and theirimpact on human health and environment. The present study focused on a comparative investigation of histological effects of nanocapule acetamiprid (NACMP) in vivoand commercial parental bulk form of acetamiprid (ACMP) on albino mice. Nanoformulations of pesticides have the potential to improve food productivity without compromising with the ecosystem. In the present study, nanocapsules containing acetamiprid were prepared from two natural macromolecules, alginate and chitosan. The characterization of the nanocapsules were investigated by Dynamic Light Scattering(DLS), T ransmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Atomic force

Hematological analysis of bromelain conjugated on silver nanoparticles in Balb/c mice
...Show More Authors

The wound healing process is incredibly intricate, consisting of a series of cellular activities. Although, this complex process has the potential to degenerate and result in chronic wound problems that are resistant to biological healing mechanisms. Nanoparticles can help to reduce inflammation, promote tissue regeneration, and accelerate wound healing. The proteolytic enzymes are believed to break down proteins and other molecules that can cause inflammation and impede the healing process. Wound was created in vivo using adult mice, and by taking blood samples the hematological parameters were evaluated to detected the effects of bromelain, silver nanoparticles and Br-AgNPs. The results shows an increased in white blood cells WBC, RBC, MC

Variations in the Origin and Contributions of Arteries supplying the Human Hippocampus: An Anatomical Study
...Show More Authors

Background:
Variations in the arterial supply in the human brain are not uncommon. Of particular interest is that of the hippocampus. Knowledge of the vascular anatomy is a key to the
surgical treatment of pathologies in this region.
Objectives:
The aim of the work is a detailed description of the variations and contribution of the anterior choroidal artery and the branches of the posterior cerebral artery to the supply of
the hippocampus and comparing the results with previous studies.
Materials and Methods:
Formalin-fixed brains from 15 adult cadavers (30 hemispheres) were examined using a magnifying lens. The hippocampus is identified, and the arteries that are in the vicinity to
hippocampus were
