Back ground: The use of Montelukast in mild and moderate asthma has been studied ,allergic rhinitis or rhinitis and asthma are strongly inter related, Montelukast has been used in both conditions, whether treating rhinitis will improve asthma control ,a point which has been stressed recently.
Objectives: To evaluate the effect of Montelukast in mild and moderate asthma according to Global INitiative For Asthma guidelines ( GINA),and to compare its use in asthma alone and in asthma which is associated with persistant rhinitis symptoms.
Patients and methods: Seventy patients who fulfill the criteria of mild and moderate asthma according to Global INitiative For Asthma guidelines had been recruited from the consultation clinic of the respiratory diseases in Baghdad Teaching Hospital from the 111st.July 2009 to 31st. December 2010,patients were divided in to 2 groups : Group – 1 patients with asthma only which was subdivided into 2 sub groups: 1-a on salbutamol inhaler on need and 1-b on beclomethasone inhaler 800Mgm/day in addition to salbutamol inhaler on need. Group- 2 patients with asthma and rhinitis which was sub divided in to subgroups: 2-a on salbutamol inhaler on need and 2-b on beclomethasone 800Mgmlday in addition to salbutamol inhaler on need.
Evaluation of day and night time symptoms, records of rhinitis symptoms and measurement of FEV1(Forced Expiratory Volume in 1st. second) and FEF 25-75%(Forced Expiratory Flow)were done to all patients . Montelukast 10 mg/ day was given to all patients for 4 weeks, and reevaluation for day , night time symptoms , rhinitis symptoms and measurement of FEV1 and FEF 25-75% were done .
Results: There was a significant statiscal improvement in day , night time symptoms , FEV1 , FEF 25-75% and rhinitis symptoms after Montelukast treatment than before treatment ( p value < 0.05), Montelukast use in asthma alone as compared to its use in asthma which was associated with rhinitis did not show a significant statiscal improvement in outcome response in day, night symptoms and in percentage of change in FEV1 and FEF25-75% (p value>0.05) .
Conclusion: Montelukast improved day , night time symptoms , FEV1 , FEF 25-75% in mild and moderate asthma ,it also improved rhinitis symptoms but Montelukast use in asthma alone as
compared to its use in asthma which was associated with rhinitis did not show a significant statiscal imrovement in asthma control regarding day, night time symptoms,FEV1 and FEF25-75% values .
In this paper an improved weighted 0-1 knapsack method (WKM) is proposed to optimize the resource allocation process when the sum of items' weight exceeds the knapsack total capacity .The improved method depends on a modified weight for each item to ensure the allocation of the required resources for all the involved items. The results of the improved WKM are compared to the traditional 0-1 Knapsack Problem (KP). The proposed method dominates on the other one in term of the total optimal solution value of the knapsack .
Several symptoms of hypothyroidism characterized by low
FT3 and FT4 were classified into hypothyroidism and Hoffman's syndrome .It was accepted that free radical generation and lipid peroxidation are associated with many diseases. Creatine kinase in serum is affected by thyroid hormones. This study was undertaken to investigate the relationship between malondialdehyde as a general lipid peroxidation marker and CK activity in patients with primary hypothyroidism and Hoffman's syndrome which indicatees hypothyroidism with undetectable FT3 and FT4 in serum with elevated values of TSH.
The study revealed that MDA is within the normal range, while CK activities in sera of Hoffman's syndrome were increas

Show MoreIn this research, a factorial experiment (4*4) was studied, applied in a completely random block design, with a size of observations, where the design of experiments is used to study the effect of transactions on experimental units and thus obtain data representing experiment observations that The difference in the application of these transactions under different environmental and experimental conditions It causes noise that affects the observation value and thus an increase in the mean square error of the experiment, and to reduce this noise, multiple wavelet reduction was used as a filter for the observations by suggesting an improved threshold that takes into account the different transformation levels based on the logarithm of the b

This matter prompted the international community to exert efforts and cooperate in order to combat it or reduce its effects. This was done through the development regional levels to eliminate the phenomenon of illegal immigration.
Significant advances in horizontal well drilling technology have been made in recent years. The conventional productivity equations for single phase flowing at steady state conditions have been used and solved using Microsoft Excel for various reservoir properties and different horizontal well lengths.
The deviation between the actual field data, and that obtained by the software based on conventional equations have been adjusted to introduce some parameters inserted in the conventional equation.
The new formula for calculating flow efficiency was derived and applied with the best proposed values of coefficients ψ=0.7 and ω= 1.4. The simulated results fitted the field data.
Various reservoir and field parameters including late

In this paper, The transfer function model in the time series was estimated using different methods, including parametric Represented by the method of the Conditional Likelihood Function, as well as the use of abilities nonparametric are in two methods local linear regression and cubic smoothing spline method, This research aims to compare those capabilities with the nonlinear transfer function model by using the style of simulation and the study of two models as output variable and one model as input variable in addition t

Show MoreIn their growth stages, cities become an aggregation of different urban contexts as a result of development or investment projects with other goals, which creates urban tension at several levels. Previous studies presented different approaches and methods to address specific aspects of urban stress, and thus contemporary visions and propositions varied, which required a field for research. The research, from a review of the proposals, the research problem emerged in need to study the indicators and trends of balanced urban development that address the tensions between different social, economic and urban contexts". Accordingly, the objective of the research is determined as "Building a comprehe
