Extraspinal incidental findings of spinal MRI
...Show More Authors

Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the modality of choice for investigation of disorders of the spine. The use of spinal MRI imaging has increased over the last few years, with improvement in hardware such as magnets, coils as well as imaging techniques. Which should lead to accurate reporting of these examinations includes identifying the incidental abnormalities even if they are not related to the spine.

Objective: The objective is to evaluate the incidence, types and associated variables of

Patients and methods: A retrospective study of 507 patients was reviewed for MRI spine at Baghdad teaching hospital and x- ray institute who underwent imaging between January 2011 and fifteenth of august 2012.unsuspected Extraspinal findings (incidental findings) by MRI spine and with correlation to the sex, age group, types of these findings and the benefit of their early detection.

Results: From the 507 patients, incidental finding were detected in 83 patients (16.37 %)   some of them have more than one incidental finding, this result showed significant association with age above 60 years, (p≤0.05)

Conclusion: A systematic approach to the MRI of the spine should include assessment of tissues and organs outside the region of clinical interest to detect and report any incidental abnormality which could have significant impact on patient’s management.

Role of Ethnicity and Environment as Risk Factors on Asthma in Two Ethnic Groups in Michigan State, United States of America
...Show More Authors

Background: Asthma is an increasing worldwide health problem.   The prevalence of asthma is higher in some ethnic minorities and lower in other ethnic groups. Environmental exposures, and psychosocial factors, have been suggested to be main mediators for asthma. Ethnicity related to racial background can influence the differences in asthma through the disease susceptible alleles.

Objective: To evaluates environmental and cultural risk factors for asthma among different ethnic groups.

Methods: Random sample of 337 Iraqi selected from 5,490 Iraqi residents’ in the Greater Detroit area. Validated questionnaire was used. Chi-square, t-test and logistic regression

Study of the Density Distributions and Elastic form Factors of the Exotic Nuclei, 8He And 26F, Via the Three-Body Model
...Show More Authors

The matter, proton, and neutron density distributions of the ground state, the nuclear root-mean-square (rms) radii, and the elastic form factors of a two- neutron, 8He and 26F, halo nuclei have been studied by the three body model of  within the harmonic oscillator (HO) and Woods-Saxon (WS) radial wave functions. The calculated results show that the two body model within the HO and WS radial wave functions succeeds in reproducing the neutron halo in these exotic nuclei. Moreover, the Glauber model at high energy (above several hundred MeV) has been used to calculate the rms radii and reaction cross sections of these nuclei.

Analysis of Climate Parameters as Indicators of Climate Changes in Central and Eastern Iraq: Khanaqin Climate Conditions as A Case Study
...Show More Authors

The climate parameters of rainfall, and average of maximum and minimum temperature were investigated for the period of 2000-2019 in three stations in central and eastern Iraq (Baghdad, Diyala, and Kut provinces). Evidence of climate change was noticed from the results, reflected by decreased mean values of annual rainfall with increased mean of maximum and minimum temperature. In addition, the water balance and the climatic conditions were determined for Khanaqin station for the years 1981-2019. The analysis of Khanaqin climate parameters demonstrated total annual mean values of rainfall of 260.86mm and evaporation of 3119.59mm. The mean monthly relative humidity was 46.65%, sunshine was 8.39h/day, temperature was 23.36C

The Shift towards Digital Education According to Vision 2030 in Light of Some Variables from the Perspective of Workers with Disabilities
...Show More Authors

The current study aimed to measure the attitudes of female teachers towards the use of digital learning and the degree of possessing their digital education skills. The study sample consisted of (180) workers with disabilities (mental disability، auditory impairment، visual disability، hyperactivity and distraction. To achieve the goals of the study, the transformation measure was used towards digital education for people with disabilities. The study reached the following results: the availability of digital learning skills among workers with disabilities. The study concluded with a series of recommendations including holding Training courses to keep up with the challenges of educational trends and modern technology in this area.

The Detection of Silent Celiac Disease In patients With Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus by the use of Anti Tissue Transglutaminase Antibodies
...Show More Authors

Objective: Detection the presumptive prevalence of silent celiac disease in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus with determination of which gender more likely to be affected.
Methods: One hundred twenty asymptomatic patients [75 male , 45 female] with type 1 diabetes mellitus with mean age ± SD of 11.25 ± 2.85 year where included in the study . All subjects were serologically screened for the presence of anti-tissue transglutaminase IgA antibodies (anti-tTG antibodies) by Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) & total IgA was also measured for all using radial immunodiffusion plate . Anti-tissue transglutaminase IgG was selectively done for patients who were expressing negative anti-tissue transglutaminase IgA with low tot

The effect of various endodontic irrigants on the sealing ability of Biodentine and other root perforation repair materials (In vitro study)
...Show More Authors

Background: This in vitro study was carried out to evaluate the effect of various endodontic irrigants (sodium hypochlorite, ethylene diaminetetracetic acid and normal saline) on sealing ability of (Biodentine, mineral trioxide aggregate, and amalgam) used to repair furcal perforations. Material and methods: One hundred and twenty extracted human molars with divergent roots were used in this study. A standard root canal access cavity was prepared in each tooth and furcal perforation was made and was standardized by using k file size 100 instrument to get a perforation of (1.32mm) in diameter .The teeth were randomly divided in to three groups of 40 teeth according to the type of material used to repair the perforations (Group A: The furcal

This study is an investigation of the drugs effect on some pathogenic Acanthamoeba isolated from Iraqi waters, where the problem of environmental adaptation that characterizes this organism in addition to being a reservoir for many pathogenic microorganisms that take shelter in it to escape disinfectants and medicines is sometimes difficult to treat it with traditional treatments.  Twenty water samples were collected from different water regions in Iraq, namely the Dokan Lake, Tigris River, Euphrates River and Najaf Sea, 5 samples from each source.  Acanthamoeba was isolated from water samples on NNA and PYG media, using an inverted microscope with an electron microscope to determine their phenotypic features. Novel use of XRF in the adsorption processes for the direct analysis of cadmium and silver in absorbent Na-alginate beads
...Show More Authors

The Na-alginate bead is commonly used in biotechnology fields such as adsorption due to ion exchange between Ca and Na with elements. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDX) has proven to be a comparative method in the detections of these adsorbed elements, but the un-flat forming area of beads that can introduce impossible of the detection of element adsorbed. In contrast, X-ray fluorescence (XRF) documents analysis of elements, direct examination, which may analysis the adsorbents of elements. Here, this Study evaluated the possibility by using XRF for the direct analysis for examples of Cd and Ag in a bench stand. This Study compared this to commonly use
