Background: Exposure to Contrast media is the third leading cause of hospital acquired acute kidney injury. It follows a predictable time of onset and a less predictable scenario in recovery. This is related to certain factors, but at the end there will be asubstantial association with increased mortality, morbidity, and length of hospitalization.
Objectives: To define the Incidence of persistent contrast induced renal impairment a month after angiography and to define the risk factors for such persistence
Patients and Methods: One hundred and one patients (101) were enrolled in this study. All were referred to the Iraqi Center for Heart Diseases in Baghdad/ Iraq for coronary and/or peripheral vascular angiography from October 2009 to July 2010. All patients’ clinical and laboratory data including baseline renal function tests were ordered and recorded with subsequent risk categorization. Post procedure serum creatinine checked on regular intervals (48 hours, one week, and then weekly for three months for those with serum creatinine consistent with the contrast induced - acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) definition at 48 hours.
Results: The mean age for the study group was 62±16.9 with 78 (77%) male. Twenty three patients (22.7%) had diabetes mellitus. Thirteen patients (12.7%)had a pre-existing renal impairment. Twenty one patients (20.7%) received extradoses of contrast. Thirty two patients (31.6%) developed CIN by the definition within 48 hours of the procedure with the mean serum creatinine of 1.8 mg/dl. Seven patients (6.8%) continued to have impaired renal function at week 4 and persisted to have such low GFR up to three months of the procedure. Baseline low GFR, Diabetes mellitus and extradoses of contrast were independent risk factors for the occurrence of CIN and delayed renal recovery.
Conclusion: The risk of poor renal recovery after contrast cannot be overlooked. Preexisting renal function impairment, diabetes mellitus, and extra doses of contrast media are independent risk factors for such delay.
objectives: To investigate the polyomaviruses (BK, JC) in asymptomatic kidney transplant recipients and healthy persons as control. It is one of the first reports on serological detection and molecular characterization that describes the circulation of polyomaviruses (BKV, JCV) have been done in Iraq recently. Methodology: The present study was designed as prospective case control study was done during the period from November 2015 to August 2016. Total of 97 serum and urine samples were collected randomly from 25 healthy control person and 72 renal transplant recipients, attending Iraqi Renal Transplantatio
Inflammation markers are significantly higher among hemodialysis (HD) patients, which have been associated with chronic activation of the immune system. Hemodialysis centers in Baghdad appear to be taking measures with low adequacy and frequency of dialysis sessions, which can be a reason for decreased kidney functions. Therefore, the objective of this study focuses on the assessment of different aspects of hemodialysis for regular HD patients in Baghdad, including inflammatory markers (serum C-reactive protein, CRP, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate, ESR), dialysis dose, comorbidities, and demographic factors for a period of one year (2018), the assessment covered four major hospitals in Baghdad namely (Al-Kind

Risk factors of recurrence are lymph node involvement, larger tumor size, positive or close tumor margins, and lack of radiation treatment following lumpectomy, younger age and inflammatory breast cancer.
Objective: Asses the rate of recurrence for early breast cancer in Iraqi female patients, in relation to certain risk factors.
Patients and methods: A prospective study was conducted on 100 consecutive female patients, with stage I and stage II breast cancer treated by mastectomy and axillary dissection by the same team. Patients were assessed postoperatively every three months and recurrences were detected by physical examination and ultr

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is caused by a variety of processes. As a result, one biomarker is insufficient to represent the complete process. This study Evaluate the diagnostic value of serum kidney injury molecule-1(KIM-1) and cystatin C (CysC) as early biochemical markers of DKD and predictive their sensitivities and specificities as biomarkers of nephropathy in Iraqi type 2 diabetic (T2DM) patients. This cross-sectional study include 161 T2DM patients from Diabetes and Endocrinology Center at Merjan medical city in Babylon. Patients divided according to urinary albumin creatinine ratio(ACR) (Group1:ACR≤30mg/g,Group2:ACR>30mg/g). Random spot urine and fasting blood samples were taken from each patient and urinary ACR, bloo

Methodology: A descriptive study was conducted to determine the contributing risk factors to
Adults nephrolithiasis starting from December 2007 to September 2008. A purposive "nonprobability"
sample of (100) patients with nephrolithiasis was selected of those who were
admitted to the hospitals, attending the Urology Consultation Clinic and Extracorporeal Shock
Wave Lithotripsy Department. The study instrument consists of two parts. The first part is
related to the patients' demographic variables and the second part is constructed to serve the
purpose of the study. The total number of items in the questionnaire was (85) ones.
Background: Febrile convulsions are the most frequent type of seizures in children under 6 years of age. Significant percentage of these children will later suffer from recurrence of febrile convulsion. Objectives: To identify the main risk factors for recurrent febrile convulsions in children. Methods: we carried out a case control study involving 89 children those who experienced first attack of febrile convulsions and 92 children with recurrent attack of febrile convulsions. The study was conducted in Central Children Teaching Hospital, Baghdad during the period 2006- 2007. Results: Compared to children with first attack of febrile convulsion, children with recurrent seizures were younger at onset (4- 12m) (67% vs. 44%), mainly male (70

It is thus imperative to identify potential risk factors for OSCC and oral PMDs and to design an accurate data collection tool to try to identify patients at high risk of OSCC development. 14 factors consistently found to be associated with the pathogenesis of OSCC and oral PMDs. Eight of themwere identified as high risk (including tobacco, alcohol, betel quid, marijuana, genetic factors, age, diet and immunodeficiency) and 6 low risk (such as oral health, socioeconomic status, HPV, candida infection, alcoholic mouth wash and diabetes) were stratified according to severit

The research aims to identify the role of scientific planning of inventory by determining the quantity of economic demand and the number of times of purchase and associated annual total costs to achieve a sufficient and appropriate level of inventory . The research was based on the case study methodology. Materials of increasing demand in the Institute of Technical Management and knowledge of the degree of conformity of the procurement plan with the standard indicators adopted in a scientific method ,its include economic order quantity and number of purchasing times .
one of The main results of the research was the existence of a large difference between the quantity of the economic purchase of ea
