Background: Transient tachypnea (TTN) is a common disorder of the newborn. It is characterized by the
early onset of tachypnea sometimes with retractions or expiratory grunting and occasionally cyanosis that is
relieved by minimal oxygen supplementation (<40%).
Objectives: To identify the risk factors and describe the clinical characteristics, treatment and outcome of
infants with TTN.
Patients and methods: This study was carried out on 100 newborn babies with birth weight of 2500 to 4000
gm and gestational ages range from (completed 37 -42 wks), who were admitted to the neonatal care unit
of Children Welfare Teaching Hospital, Medical city, Baghdad, from 1st of September 2013 to the 31st of
January 2014, and diagnosed as having TTN.
Results: Males represented 68% and females were 32%, with a male to female ratio of 2.1:1. Fifty-three
percent aged 38 weeks, compared to 38% aged < 38 weeks and 9% > 38 weeks, indicating that there
was a significant inverse correlation between the incidence of TTN and the gestational age. There was a
highly significant inverse correlation between the neonate’s weight and the frequency of TTN. Cesarean
section done in 80% compared to 20% delivered with spontaneous vaginal delivery (SVD) and neonates
who were delivered by elective section were more likely to have TTN than those delivered with SVD or
emergency section. The history of maternal diabetes in (17%), a statistically significant association was
found between TTN and the maternal Diabetes Mellitus but not with other maternal diseases. Tachypnea
and chest retraction were the most frequent clinical manifestations, 93% and 72% respectively. Chest X-ray
revealed that 71% had increased pulmonary vascular markings, over aeration in 22%. Out of the 100 cases,
95% were discharged after they improved without complications, 5% complicated with Pneumothorax. No
death in the studied group.
Conclusions: There was a significant association between TTN and maternal diabetes, mode of delivery
especially elective CS, lower gestational age (38 weeks and less), and lower body weight. The most frequent
clinical manifestations of TTN are Tachypnea and chest retraction. Increased pulmonary vascular markings
and over- aeration are the most frequent radiological manifestations. TTN is a self-limited disease in most
of the cases.
Objectives: The study aims to evaluate effectiveness of health education program on health care providers’ knowledge toward immunization of children at primary health care centers in Kirkuk city.
Methodology: A quasi –experimental study design two- group (pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2) conducted at primary health care centers in Kirkuk city during the period from 28 October 2019 to 10 August 2020. By collecting (50) samples divided into two groups, each one (25) participant as control & study group. The study group exposed to the education program only.

Objectives: To find the causes of short stature in patients referred to pediatric endocrinology clinic of children welfare teaching hospital, the significance of bone age assessment and the variation of growth hormone level in these patients.
Patients and methods: This prospective study was carried out in the endocrine clinic of Children Welfare Teaching Hospital/Medical City over ten months period, included 150 patients. A proper detailed medi
Abstract
Objective(s): To evaluate housekeeping services staff work environment and their health status, as well as to determine the impact of the work environment upon their health status.
Methodology: A descriptive design is employed throughout the present study to evaluate housekeeping services staff work environment and their health status, as well as to determine the impact of the work environment upon their health status from November 3rd 2017 to June 30th 2018. A purposive “nonprobability” sample of (101) housekeeping staff is selected for the present study. An instrument is constructed for the purpose of the study and it is consists of (2) parts: (I) Evaluation of work environment, and (II) Evaluation of housekeeping st
Background: Neonatal infections are afrequent and important causes of neonatal morbidity and mortality especially in the developing countries.
Objective: The aim of the study is to determine the clinical picture, risk factors associated with neonatal sepsis and to estimate short term outcome from neonatal sepsis and its relation to birth weight, gestational age, onset of sepsis and type of bacteria.
Patients and Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 80 neonates presented with sepsis who had been admitted to intensive care unit in Children Welfare Teaching hospitals in Baghdad over six months period between (15th of January 2008 to 15th of June 2008).A thorough history and physical examination were carried out, and samples o
Objectives: The present study aimed to assess the compulsion among health care providers during the pandemic of COVID-19.
Methodology: a descriptive design was used in the present study. This study was conducted from October 10th, 2020 through May 20th, 2021. The study was conducted on a probability (convenient) sample of 248 physicians and nurses who work at Baghdad Teaching hospital in Baghdad city. The instrument was used in this study is the COVID Stress Scale-Arabic version (CSS).
Results: The result of this study showed that 42 % of HCPs had moderate symptoms and 36% of them had mild compulsive symptoms, and

Also, seizure-free patients with ASD have been found to have a higher prevalence of epileptiform discharge abnormalities compared to healthy controls across investigations. Changes in the electroencephalogram (EEG) can manifest as sharp waves or spikes, sharp and slow waves, generally distributed or general area, or focused, and can manifest in various brain regions. There is a necessity to search for a distinctive EEG characteristic in ASD patients.

So the study was aimed to assess the social stressors and the severity of stress among nurses in cardiac surgical intensive care units.
Objectives: The study aimed to assess the level and sources of social job stress related to the social relationship experienced by nurses, who were working in intensive care units and to find out the relationship between social stressors and some variables such as age, gender, educational level, marital status, Years of experience in cardiac
Background: Since 1985 the World Health Organization (WHO) had stated: “There is no justification for any region to have Caesarian Sections (CS) rates higher than 10-15%”. Since then, CSs have become increasingly common in both developed and developing countries. The rate of CS has been reported to be as high as 24.5% and 25.8% among Iraqi women in the years 2009 and 2010 respectively.
Objectives: The study was designed to provide data on the level of existing knowledge, attitudes and preference of modes of delivery, which can be used as a platform to raise knowledge among pregnant women and their partners and thereby empowering women to make informed choices.

Background: The neonatal deaths account for two-third of all deaths in the first year of life, and 40% of under-five mortality. Extreme prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome , neonatal infections , and congenital malformations are among the common causes of neonatal deaths.
Methods: We retrospectively studied 668 neonates who died over 5 years period from first of Jan. 2000 to the end of Dec. 2004 in neonatal care unit of children Welfare Teaching Hospital-medical city, by obtaining data from reviewing their medical records and death certificates.
