Biochemical alteration in some Iraqi children with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD)
...Show More Authors

Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a general term for a group of complex disorders of brain development; these disorders have no single known cause, they are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors.
Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate different biochemical parameters in some autistic Iraqi children, and to compare the results with healthy children who matched with age, looking for any alteration in the studied parameters in order to understand the biochemistry of this disorder.
Patients and Methods: Forty one consecutive autistic children admitted to (Al Safa center for autism and Iben- AL Rshid Psychiatry Teaching Hospital) were included in the current study with mean age of (6.62y±3).
Results: Results obtained in the present study were higher significantly high levels (p≤0.05) of serum uric acid, serum total bilirubin, and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). While non-significant differences (p≥0.05) in the levels of fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, serum totals protein, serum albumin, and total thyroxine T4, triiodothyronine T3. The results also indicated three cases of autistic children who have positive test for serum Anti- tissue-transglutaminase IgA & IgG antibody by using ELISA technique.
Conclusion: The present study highlights the relationship between some chemical parameters and ASD. Further study must carry out with large number of cases to investigate this relationship more deeply in these patients.

Oxidation Desulphurization of Heavy Naphtha Improved by Ultrasound Waves
...Show More Authors

The oxidation desulphurization assisted by ultrasound waves was applied to the desulphurization of heavy naphtha. Hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid were used as oxidants, ultrasound waves as phase dispersion, and activated carbon as solid adsorbent. When the oxidation desulphurization (ODS) process was followed by a solid adsorption step, the performance of overall Sulphur removal was 89% for heavy naphtha at the normal condition of pressure and temperature. The process of (ODS) converts the compounds of Sulphur to sulfoxides/ sulfones, and these oxidizing compounds can be removed by activated carbon to produce fuel with low Sulphur content. The absence of any components (hydrogen peroxide, acetic acid, ultrasound waves and activated car

TREATMENT OF A HIGH STRENGTH ACIDIC INDUSTRIAL CHEMICAL WASTEWATER USING EXPANDED BED ADSORBER
...Show More Authors

Treatment of a high strength acidic industrial wastewater was attempted by activated carbon
adsorption to evaluate the feasibility of yielding effluents of reusable qualities. The experimental
methods which were employed in this investigation included batch and column studies. The
former was used to evaluate the rate and equilibrium of carbon adsorption, while the latter was
used to determine treatment efficiencies and performance characteristics. Fixed bed and expanded
bed adsorbers were constructed in the column studies. In this study, the adsorption behavior of acetic acid onto activated carbon was examined as a function of the concentration of the adsorbate, contact time and adsorbent dosage. The adsorption data was mo

Thermal Properties of Lead-Acid Battery Plastic Lightweight Concrete
...Show More Authors

This study investigates the possibility of using waste plastic as one of the components of expired lead-acid batteries to produce lightweight concrete. Different percentages of lead-acid battery plastic were used in the production of lightweight concrete. The replacements were (70, 80 and 100%) by volume of the fine and coarse aggregate. Results demonstrated that a reduction of approximately 23.6% to 35% in the wet density was observed when replacement of 70% to 100% of the natural aggregate by lead-acid battery plastic. Also, the compressive strength decreased slightly with the increase in plastic content at different curing ages of 7, 28, 60, 90, 120 days. The lowest value of compressive strength was (20.7 MPa) for (wa

In our research, we dealt with one of the most important issues of linguistic studies of the Holy Qur’an, which is the words that are close in meaning, which some believe are synonyms, but in the Arabic language they are not considered synonyms because there are subtle differences between them. Synonyms in the Arabic language are very few, rather rare, and in the Holy Qur’an they are completely non-existent. And how were these words, close in meaning, translated in the translation of the Holy Qur’an by Almir Kuliev into the Russian language.
