Gene frequency and haplotype analysis of HLA class I in patients with simple renal cysts
...Show More Authors

Background: The study of human leukocytes (HLA) alleles, and haplotype frequencies within populations provide an important source of information for anthropological investigation, organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation as well as disease association, certain diseases showed association with specific alleles specially those of known or suspected hereditary origin or immunological basis, whether simple renal cyst is congenital or acquired is still unclear and need to be investigated. Objectives: To study the genetic aspect of simple renal cysts by detecting the gene frequency and the haplotype of HLA class I of patients with simple renal cysts, and to find the presence of these cysts in other family members.Method: Thirty patient

Assessment of Glycemic Control, Renal Function, and Oxidative Stress Parameters in Type 2 Diabetes MellitusPatients
...Show More Authors

Diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a multifactorial syndrome that israpidly rising in all the continents ofthe globe, causing elevated blood sugar levels in affected people. A sample of 81 Iraqi T2DM patients was investigated based on several parameters. Glycemic control parameters includedlevels of fasting blood glucose (FBG),
glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C), and insulin, along with insulin resistance (IR) and insulin sensitivity (IS). Renal function tests includedmeasuring the blood levels of urea and creatinine. Oxidative stress parameters included total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and thelevel of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The results of the present
study showed a highly significant (P˂0.01) increase in FBG, HbA1c, insulin and IR leve

Physiological and histological effects of apigenin and luteolin on Cytarabine injected rats
...Show More Authors

The present study was undertaken to study the effect of apigenin and luteolin on physiological and histological changes in rats treated with cytarabine drugs. Thirty-five albino healthy male adult rats with equal age weighing 250 -300g were enrolled. Rats were randomly divided into seven groups according to the treatment. Group “1” was treated with normal saline and served as the control group. Groups “2,3 and 4”  received cytarabine, apigenin, and luteolin respectively, while groups 5, 6, and 7 received a combination of “apigenin + cytarabine”, “luteolin + cytarabine”, and “apigenin + luteolin + cytarabine”, respectively.  After one week of treatment, all seven groups of rats were

Effect of different levels of urea and superphosphate fertilizers on some morphological and physiological characters of fenugreek plant (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.)
...Show More Authors

An experiment was conducted using pots (capacity of 4 kg soil/pot) in the glasshouse of Biology Dept. College of Education (Ibn Al-Haitham) University of Baghdad during 2008-2009 growing season, in order to determine the effect of different levels of urea fertilizer (Zero, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4 gm/4 kg soil in pot) these equal to (Zero, 100,200,400 kg/ha) and different levels of superphosphate fertilizer (Zero, 0.1, 0.2 gm/4kg soil in pot), these equal to (Zero, 100,200 kg/ha) on some morphological and physiological characteristics of fenugreek plant. This experiment was conducted using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications and the experiment included (36) pots. Results indicated clear increase in all studied characteristics wi

Effect of different levels of Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) on physiological performance of broiler under heat stress conditions.
...Show More Authors

This experiment was holdup in A-Faris poultry farms from 1st March to 11 of Aprile 2019. (ACTH) hormone infusion was tested in this experiment on acid-base regulation in broiler chickens. For 7 days, osmotic pumps dispensed 8 IU of ACTH in saline/kg of BW/d, or the same volume of saline as in ACTH at 1 l/h. On days 0 and 14, after the beginning of the infusions, blood samples were obtained to establish a baseline. The plasma concentrations of Na+, K+, and Cl- were decreased, whereas the partial pressure of CO2, anion gap, corticosterone, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, and blood concentrations of hemoglobin and HCO - were all elevated due to the ACTH administration. When given ACTH, neither blood pH nor plasma Ca2+ levels changed

An Investigation into the Effects of Ubiquinone on Inflammation, Diabetic Myopathy and Endotheliopathy, and CBC Parameters in Diabetic Rats
...Show More Authors

Oxidative stress and inflammation are connected to the development of metabolic disorders, such as diabetes. Diabetic-related oxidative stress is caused by the overproduction of oxidative-free radicals, which have been implicated in the mechanism of inflammation and damage to tissues. Our study aimed to investigate the effects of ubiquinone treatment on serum indicators of oxidative stress (malondialdehyde (MDA)), inflammation (interleukin 6 (IL-6)), vascular homeostasis (nitric oxide (NO)), and myopathy (myoglobin (MB))  in addition to measuring blood components parameters in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Rats were separated into three groups; negative control group (N), diabetic control group (D), and ubiquinone-treated diabet

Incidence of Renal Injuries in Abdominal Trauma at Al-Kindi Teaching Hospital
...Show More Authors

Background : The kidneys may be injured in abdominal trauma, both blunt & penetrating. Renal trauma may manifest in a dramatic fashion for both the patient and the clinician. Objectives: To evaluate the incidence, management, morbidity &mortality of renal injury in blunt & penetrating abdominal trauma.
Results:The majority o f patients were males (35= 77.8%), the rest were females (10= 22.2%). The average age was 37 years (range= 18-56 years). The most common grades were grade1, grade2 and grade3 (40=88.9%), while 5 patients (11.1%) were grades 4 and 5.The most common associated injuries were liver, spleen, small & large bowels and diaphragm. The mortality was 20% (9 patients). The most common cause of death was multip

Free-form geometries in contemporary architecture – dimensional rules of Folded, Blob and Formlessness architecture
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>The style of Free-form Geometry (FFG) has emerged in contemporary architecture within the last three decades around the world through the progress of digital design tools and the development of constructive materials. FFG is considered as the hard efforts of several contemporary architects to release their products from familiar restrictions to discover new and unfamiliar styles under the perspective of innovation. Many contemporary architects seek to recognize their forms and facilitate dealing with according to specific dimensional rules. The main research problem is the lack of knowledge, in the field of architecture, in previous literature about the formation processes in achievin</p> ... Show More

Axenic Procyclic Culture of L. tropica and L. donovani in Culture of FBS-free Medium
...Show More Authors

Leishmania causes disease ranging from self-healing cutaneous to fatal visceral leishmaniasis (VL). Leishmaniasis is reported endemic in 88 countries, including Iraq, in which 82% in low-income countries. The diseases develop following the bite of sand flies injecting Leishmania promastigotes into skin. Promastigotes transform into amastigotes in vivo multiplying within macrophages. In this study we have investigated the ability of axenic procyclic promastigotes of cutaneous Leishmania tropica and visceral Leishmania donovani survive in M199 media with or without Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) added. Three time incubation periods were adopted (24, 48 and 72) hours and the results showed that L. tropica was able to survive and multiply in both
