Background: The goal of this study was to determine the prevalence and the risk factors of asymptomatic pyuria in diabetic female patients.
Methods: The study included 100 diabetic female patients and 100 non diabetic females attending the outpatient in the period from Sep.2001 to Sep.2002.Patients with symptoms of
urinary tract infection were excluded. Asymptomatic pyuria was defined as the presence of more than 10 leukocytes\high power field in an uncentrifuged random urine sample.
Results: Diabetic women more often had asymptomatic pyuria than non diabetic women. The prevalence of asymptomatic pyuria was significantly higher in patients with duration of diabetes exceeding 15 years than those below. Diabetic females with asymptomatic pyuria more often had diabetic retinopathy, neuropathy, nephropathy, cerebrovascular disease, and ischemic heart disease than those without asymptomatic pyuria. As the degree of neuropathy increases it is accompanied by an increase in the prevalence of asymptomatic pyuria. The prevalence of asymptomatic pyuria was significantly increased in patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy. As degree of nephropathy increases, it is accompanied by an increase in the prevalence of asymptomatic pyuria,
Conclusion: There is an increase in the prevalence of asymptomatic pyuria among diabetic females with complications of retinopathy, neuropathy and in nephropathy. The prevalence of
asymptomatic pyuria increased with long duration of diabetes as diabetic microangiopathy becomes sever.
Isolation of fungi was performed from February to July, 2019. One hundred clinical specimens were collected from King Abdullah Hospital (KAH) Bisha, Saudi Arabia. Samples were collected from twenty patients of different ages (30 - 70 years old) ten males and ten females. The samples were collected from patients with the two types of diabetics. Specimens included blood, hair, nail, oral swabs and skin. Specimens were inoculated on Sabourauds Dextrose agar containing chloramphenicol. Thirteen fungal species were isolated and identified. The isolated species were: Aspergillus flavus, A. niger, A. terrus, A. nidulans, A. fumigatus, Candida albicans, C. krusei, C. parapsilosis, C. Tropicalis, Curvularia lunata, Fusarium solani, Penicill

Seventy samples of diabetic patients Type II male and females with age about (35-60) years were taken including 44 samples for group one (24 male, 20 female) who used herbs accompanied with chemical treatment (drugs) and 26 samples for the second group (13male and 13 female) who used herbs only. These groups were compared with 60 samples obtained from healthy persons (29 male, 31 female) at the same age of patients as a control group. Effect of age and treatment fo

Objectives: To examine theprevalence of urinary tract infections in hemodialysis patients with renal failure, and to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of pyuria as a screening test in hemodialysis patients.
Patients and Methods: A total of forty hemodialysis patients (27 males and 13 females) with renal failure were selected according to the study criteria. Clean-catch mid-stream urine specimens were obtained from study patients, their urinalysis and bacterial culture were performed according to standard techn
Background: Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is a common disease in childhood. A linear relation between glycemic control (HbA1c < 7) and onset or progression of complication was detected. Only few individuals achieve glycemic control.
Objective: To estimate the glycemic control among diabetic children attending tertiary center.
Methods: All diabetic children registered in the diabetic consultancy clinic in Children Welfare Teaching hospital (298) were included in the study. Case records were reviewed and information on demography, weight and height, age at diagnosis and HbA1c was requested.
Results: Out of the total, 23.8% diabetic children had glycemic control. Glycemic control was decreasing with age (p=0.001), significantl
Background: Glycemic control and prevention of secondary complications are the most important aims of using pharmacological treatments in diabetes mellitus. Due to the high incidence of inadequate response to insulin and, we try to evaluate the effects of adjunct use of silymarin with insulin on glycemic control, lipid profile and renal function in type 1 diabetes mellitus patients.
Patients and Methods: Placebo-controlled, doubled blinded clinical trial method is utilized through which 60 type 1 DM patients allocated into two groups, 30 patients treated with insulin and silymarin 400 mg/day in two divided doses, while the other 30 patients treated with insulin and placebo for 60 days. Peripheral neuropathy represents one of the common diabetic complications in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 (DMT2). Peripheral neuropathy affects the feet, legs, hands, and arms. It was found that one-third to one-half of diabetics have peripheral neuropathy. The current study aimed to evaluate the level of visfatin in diabetic patient groups with or without peripheral neuropathy in comparison with healthy subjects to knowledge whether visfatin can be applied as a predictor factor for this type of disease complication. The study included 120 males and females ranging in age from 40 to 97 years old. (40 patients with type 2 diabetes, 40 patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and 40 healthy people served as the control group

Subjects and methods: Three groups of subjects of either sex involved in this study; fourty one (41) patients with diabetic CIDP, fourty six (46)patients with diabetic peripheral polyneuropathy and fourty one (41) control subjects. Sensory and motor nerve conduction study (NCS) and electromyography (EMG) of both upper and lower limbs were performed for each subjects. This study was cond

Diabetes and periodontitis considered as chronic diseases with a bidirectional relationship between them. Evidence has shown that the Node Like Receptor Pyrine-3 inflammasome, is crucial for both illnesses. Aim of study: This investigation was conducted to observe the association between bacterial load of A. actinomyctecomtans and serum level of NLRP3 inflammasome in periodontitis patient with and without type 2 DM and control group. Materials and Methods: This case-control study included 85 participants, who
