The Effect of Selectivity of Inhibitors to Cox-2 Enzyme on Hepatobiliary and Platelet Function in Patients with Osteoarthritis
...Show More Authors

Background: The development of non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) was based principally on inhibiting cyclooxygenases (COX) activity. However, the identification of two
COX- isoforms (i.e., COX-1 and COX-2) with different physiological effects has led to the development of COX-2 specific NSAIDs, with fewer adverse effects than traditional NSAIDs.
Therefore, They are expected to produce anti-inflammatory activity with minimal adverse effects on GI mucosa, as well as, other structures and cells such as platelets.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of selectivity of COX-2 inhibitors on many organs and systems function such as the hepatobiliary system, platelets function, as well as, serum uric acid levels.
Patients and methods: Thirty six patients with osteoarthritis participated in this study. Twenty – four of them were treated with 400 mg celecoxib/day. The remainder received 15 mg meloxicam daily for 3 months .In addition to twelve apparently healthy subjects as a control . Measurement of serum alanine transaminase , serum alkaline phosphatase activity ,total serum protein, and serum albumin to evaluate hepatobiliary system . In addition to the estimation of bleeding time to evaluate the effect of selectivity of inhibitors to COX-2 on platelets function.
Results: The results showed minor variations in their effects on liver function tests. However, meloxicam, the relatively selective COX-2 inhibitor affects bleeding time more than does
celecoxib, the purely COX-2 selective. Whereas, celecoxib elevated serum levels of uric acid more than meloxicam.
Conclusion: We could conclude that selectivity to COX-2 enzyme has different odds of risks on pharmacological action.

Application of zirconia surface coating to improve fracture resistance and stress distribution of zirconia ceramic restorations
...Show More Authors

Zirconia ceramic restoration (ZCR) has a higher fracture incidence rate than metal ceramic restoration. Different surface treatments were used to improve fracture performance of ZCR such as grit blasting (GB) by aluminium oxide powder. This type of surface treatment generate residual stresses on veneering ceramic causing crack initiation and ending with a fracture. In order to overcome the stress generated by GB, zirconia surface coating is used as a surface treatment to improve fracture resistance and to accommodate stresses along the ZCR layers. Fifty zirconia ceramic crowns were fabricated and divided according to the type of surface treatment into three groups; the first group is (ZG), involving 20 cores were coated with a mixture of pa

Synthesis and Evaluation of Antimicrobial Activity of Some New Bis Cyclic Imides Linked to Nitrogen Heterocycles
...Show More Authors

In the present work, a series of new bis cyclic imides (pyromellit imides) linked to different nitrogen heterocycles namely (pyridine, pyrimidine, phenazone and quinoline) was synthesized.
Synthesis of the new imides was performed via two steps in the first one a series of bis amic acids (pyromellit amic acids) was synthesized via reaction of pyromellitic anhydride with variety of nitrogen heterocyclic primary amines while in the second step the prepared bis amic acids were dehydrated via treatment with acetic anhydride and anhydrous sodium acetate affording the desired imides.
The prepared bis Imides were screened for their antimicrobial activity against many types of bacteria and fungi and the results indicated that they possess

Fracture resistance of endodontically treated premolars with extensive MOD cavities restored with different composite restorations (An In vitro study)
...Show More Authors

Background: This in vitro study evaluated the fracture resistance of weakened endodontically treated premolars with class II MOD cavities restored with different composite restorations (Low-shrinkage Filtek P90, nanohybrid Filtek Z250 XT and SDR bulk fill). The type and mode of fracture were also assessed for all the experimental groups. Materials and Method: Fifty human adult maxillary premolar teeth were selected for this study. Standardized extensive class II MOD cavities with endodontic treatment were prepared for all teeth, except those that were saved as intact control. The teeth were divided into five groups of ten teeth each (n=10): (Group 1) intact control group, (Group 2) unrestored teeth with endodontic treatment, (Group 3) resto

The extent to which governmental secondary schools' managers in al-hial province have cognitive management requirements
...Show More Authors

The current study aims to examine the level of cognitive management requirement among the governmental secondary schools' managers in al-hial province in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. To do this, the author designed a questionnaire comprised (20) item which was applied on (250) managers included (113) manager hold bachelor degree and (137) manager hold master degree. To carry out this study, the researcher utilized the descriptive approach. The findings revealed that a high level of cognitive management requirements among secondary schools' managers as well as there is a significant difference at the (0.05) level regarding degree type, but there is no a significant difference according to gender variable.

Shapes as an Alternative to the Word in Designing Textbooks: سحر علي سرحان-منى محمد غلام

Shapes have differed in terms of their temporality, tools, technical variations, aesthetic functions and dimensions. The beginnings started with manual primitive techniques that have played an a significant artistic role in the ancient civilizations, then developed with the technological development and the digital technologies that encompassed various programs and specialist means in the graphic design, so that its visual outputs in the textbook that is considered a communication means that has an effect and attracts the recipient. That is what made the researcher search and investigate this topic describing the research problem as follows: What are the shapes as alternatives to the words in the design of the textbook? The research obje

A wavelet-based collocation technique to find the discontinuous heat source in inverse heat conduction problems
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>This paper is devoted to an inverse problem of determining discontinuous space-wise dependent heat source in a linear parabolic equation from the measurements at the final moment. In the existing literature, a considerably accurate solution to the inverse problems with an unknown space-wise dependent heat source is impossible without introducing any type of regularization method but here we have to determine the unknown discontinuous space-wise dependent heat source accurately using the Haar wavelet collocation method (HWCM) without applying the regularization technique. This HWCM is based on finite-difference and Haar wavelets approximation to the inverse problem. In contrast to othe</p> ... Show More

...Show More Authors

This study aims to predict the organic pollution produced from the presence of some polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and determination it's concentrations (µg/L , ppb) in Tigris river water by a collection twenty-seven water samples from a selected three stations with nine sampling sites and three depths of water (5 cm , 2 m and 4 m) each site for 4.6 km distance of a geographic studied area which is located between the ( Al-Senak and AL-Sarrafiah bridges ) at Baghdad city – Iraq on May, 2012. The geographic location was determined with a Global Positioning System (GPS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) software program. The concentrations of fourteen components (PAHs) were performed using the reverse phase
