CD-Markers as an immunological aspect in patients with visceral leishmaniasis

Back ground: Visceral leishmaniasis is an endemic protozoan disease in Iraq. Recovery from this disease confers a solid and permanent immunity. Immunological assessment of our patients was carried out and the results showed a significant reduction in the percentage of CD3, CD56 and a significant increase in the percentage of CD19 in the peripheral blood lymphocyte of VL in comparison with control group.
Patients and methods: Indirect immunofluorescence technique analysis was performed to detect the percentage of CD3, CD19and CD56 positive lymphocytes.
Results: Our results in the patients groups showed decrease in the percentage of CD3, CD56 and increase in the percentage of CD19. Follow up of patients after treatment showed a significant increase in the percentage of CD3, CD56, but they were still lower than their normal range .
Conclusion:- CD3,CD56, were decreased in VL infection then increased after treatment but it was less than its normal range, while CD19 was increased in VL when compared with control group.

Expression of D20-40 and CD in patients with colorectal carcinoma

Background: Colorectal is a worldwide health problem. Tumors stimulate the ground of host blood vessels, a process called angiogenesis, which is essential for supplying nutrients of the tumor, also stimulate the lymphatic vessels for metasatasis.

Determination of Cancer Antigen CA15-3 and Carcino Embryonic Antigen CEA concentration as Tumor Markers in Patients with Stomach and Colorectal cancers.

Background: Tumor markers are often requested as part of a diagnostic workup, and increased concentrations in serum may suggest malignancy of a particular organ. However, definitive diagnosis is based on histological evaluation of the involved tissue.
Objective: The aim of present study is to evaluated CEA and CA15-3 in order to clarify at least in part their possible use as an early diagnosis tools in sera of patients with stomach, colon and rectum cancers.
Patients and methods: The study was carried out on 61 subjects comprising of 16 patients with colon cancer group (G1), 10 patients with rectum cancer group (G2), 10 patients with stomach cancer group (G3) and 25 normal healthy control The patients were selected, during the peri

Evaluation of the Efficacy of Different Serological Methods (rK39 dipstick, ELISA and IFA) Techniques in the Diagnosis of Visceral leishmaniasis.

The objective of this study was to compare the sensitivity and specificity of rK39,
ELISA and IFA tests for the diagnosis of visceral leishmaniasis using blood
samples. Samples were collected from 146 suspected patients and 30 healthy
individual as control. The results showed 52 (35.62%), 58 (39.73%) and 71
(48.64%) positive samples by rK39, ELISA and IFA , respectively. IFA test showed
a higher sensitivity (48.63%) than ELISA and rk39 dip stick (39.72%) and (35.61%)
respectively. The highest sensitivity of agreement (K: 0.912) was found between
rK39 dipstick and ELISA. Therefore, we suggest the application of rK39 dipstick
and ELISA methods in endemic areas of visceral leishmaniasis for early and
accurate diag

Neutrophil/lymphocyte and platelet/lymphocyte ratios as potential markers of disease activity in patients with Ankylosing spondylitis: a case-control study
Abstract
<title>Background

The neutrophil/ lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) have the potential to be inflammatory markers that reflect the activity of many inflammatory diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the NLR and PLR as potential markers of disease activity in patients with ankylosing spondylitis.

Methods

The study involved 132 patients with ankylosing spondylitis and 81 healthy controls matched in terms of age and gender. Their sociodemographic data, disease activity scores using the Bath Ankylosing

Serological markers “CEA test & sAPRIL test” in Iraqi patients with colon cancer

Background: Colonic cancer is a very common disease world-wide being fourth most common cancer characterized by abnormal proliferation of the inner wall of colon then taking full colon wall thickness then spreading to surrounding lymph nodes and tissues and finally distant metastasis. It is one of most complicated diseases with debilitating symptoms which becomes more sever , prominent and specific with advancing stage with high percent of fatality and relatively short survival if diagnosed late or if left untreated.
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of serum CEA & sAPRIL levels in the diagnosis and screening of colon cancer and their validity for this.
Patients and methods: This study was applied on 35 patients with colonic

The Key Role of Bone Function Markers in Patients with Type (II) Diabetes Mellitus

Complications associated with diabetes are a consequence of acute disturbance in glucose metabolism in a human body. The most significant complication of diabetes is bone disorders which contributes to high levels of bone disability. This study included 118 diabetic patients, 56 males, 62 females, and 60 healthy non-diabetic controls, 30 males, 30 females. The patients and controls were age matched. Circulating levels of bone function markers (osteoprotegerin, vitamin D, PTH, total calcium and inorganic phosphorus) were determined in all subject groups. The data obtained from this study showed that the serum levels of osteoprotegerin had significantly increased in both diabetic male & female in both age ranges which were 4

Physiological and Immunological Disturbance in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systematic autoimmune disorder with chronic inflammation changes of unknown etiology. Various synovial inflammatory and proliferative alterations may contribute to the cartilaginous tissues and invasive bony tissues, leading to destructive joints and malformed bones. This disease is mostly due to infective microorganisms or genetic susceptibility causing immune system disturbances through triggering both T-cells and B-cells. Furthermore, different immune cells may secret cytokines, which are responsible for some RA pathogenesis activity. From ninety individuals, serum sample was collected; thirty of them were normal and sixty cases were patients with RA attended a privet medical clin

Seroprevalence of Hepatitis B markers in Iraqi patients with chronic Hepatitis B virus

To determine the seroprevalence of hepatitis B markers in chronic hepatitis B patients, 75 patients with chronic hepatitis B virus of ages (8-70) years have been investigated and compared with 50 apparently healthy individuals. All the studied groups were carried out to measure (HBsAg), (HBsAb), (HBeAg), (HBeAb), and (Total HBcAb) by Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. The percentage distribution of HBsAg was (86.67%) and HBsAb was (1.33%) in sera of CHB patients and there were a highly significant differences (P<0.01) when compared between studied groups, while, the percentage distribution of HBeAg was (22.67%) in sera of CHB patients and the significant represent the difference in distribution of HBeAg as infection but no
