Toxicologic Pathology Study of uranyl acetate by oral intubation on Sprague – Dawelly Rats.
...Show More Authors

Background: Urany1 acetate (UA) mostly a kidney poison or chemical toxic and not nearly so much radiological also is not accumulative toxic, so it is not concentrated in the food chain nor would it cause pathological condition due to increase levels from expomers. Therefore, the study aimed to detect the target organ as most of the lethal dose (LD50) male rats died within 24 hours.
Methods: Study was done on (120) male rats of 2 months old, at varying dosage level of uranyl acetate ranging from LD 50 of 2.5 and 1.5gm/kg and varying dosage level, by oral intubation. There were (40) rats for LD 50 were given single oral dose from 2.5 to 1.5 gm /kg every day. Eighty rats for the main study, (20) rats each group as intermediate, low and high dose. After LD 50, the trail was done on groups of rats, starting as high dose as 150 mg / kg day by day then followed by intermediate dose 100 mg / kg and low dose level 75 mg / kg b.w every other day respectively with control untreated group. Duration of the study (55 day) on all rats were killed and followed by histopathological examination.
Results: The histopathological changes ranged from sever necrosis of the proximal convoluted tubules result in renal failure and that was mainly at the LD 50 and maximum level dose, rats either died after few hours or live for few days. Showing arched back and killed in poor condition, while rats treated with intermediate and low dose level showed less sever changes, mostly as dilated cortical tubules and / or cortical tubular basophilia, , only with occasional cortical tubular necrosis .
Conclusion: The Present study showed that the kidney, proximal convoluted tubules, the target for toxicological pathology of heavy metal and the main cause of death was renal failure in sever morbid cases.

Increasing of Oil Field Productivity by Implementation of Re-entry Horizontal Injection Well, Case study
...Show More Authors

Water flooding is one of the most important methods used in enhanced production; it was a pioneer method in use, but the development of technology within the oil industry, takes this subject toward another form in the oil production and application in oil fields with all types of oils and oil reservoirs. Now days most of the injection wells directed from the vertical to re-entry of full horizontal wells in order to get full of horizontal wells advantages.
This paper describes the potential benefits for using of re-entry horizontal injection wells as well as combination of re –entry horizontal injection and production wells. Al Qurainat productive sector was selected for study, which is one of the four main productive sectors of Sout

The Possible Cardio-Protective Effects of Ethanolic Artichoke Extract against 5- Fluorouracil Induced Cardiac Toxicity in Rats
...Show More Authors

Cardiac toxicity can occur during the therapy with several cytotoxic drugs, including 5- Fluorouracil (5- FU). It is an antimetabolite that acts during the S phase of the cell cycle and is activated by thymidine phosphorylase into fluorodeoxyuridylate (5 fluoro 2'deoxyuridine 5'monophosphate, 5-FdUMP) that inhibits thymidylate synthase, thus preventing DNA synthesis that leads to imbalanced cell growth and ultimately cell death. It is still a widely used anticancer drug, since 1957. The present study aimed to evaluate the possible cardio-protective effects of ethanolic artichoke extract (Cynara scolymus L.) against 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) induced cardio-toxicity in rats by evaluating serum levels of Alanine aminotransferase, aspartate amin

The present work aimed to study the effect of Grave's disease on the different tissues and organs of the body by using Wayne Thyrotoxicosis Diagnostic Index (WTDI) and Basel Metabolic Index (BMI). To reach such aim, (35) patients were involved (25 females and 10 males). A control group of (15) healthy individuals (10 females and 5 males) was selected for comparison , as well as , the following: 1- Wayne Thyrotoxicosis Diagnostic Index (WTDI) applied on patient group and control group under the supervision of specialist medical team , this index include (19) sign and symptom , the appearance of one of them may be lead to the others. The sings and symptoms of the index appear only on the patients. There is no Significant di

Neuroprotective effects of daidzein against ifosfamide-induced neurotoxicity in male rats: role of selected inflammatory and apoptotic markers
...Show More Authors

Ifosfamide (IFO), an alkylating chemotherapy agent, is known for its association with neurotoxicity and encephalopathy. This trial was designed to evaluate the protective action of daidzein (DZN) against IFO-induced neurotoxicity in male rats by determining the difference in certain inflammatory and apoptotic markers in the brain tissue of rats. Twenty-eight Wistar rats, weighing 120-150 g, were divided into four groups of seven rats: Group 1 (Control) received no treatment; Group 2 was orally administered DZN (100 mg/kg/day) for seven days; Group 3 received a single intraperitoneal (IP) dose of IFO (500 mg/kg); Group 4 received oral DZN (100 mg/kg/day) for one week prior to a single IP dose of IFO on the seventh day. Twenty-four hours post

ABSTRACT<p> <named-content content-type="genus-species">Porphyromonas gingivalis</named-content> , a key periodontal pathogen, is capable of invading a variety of cells, including oral keratinocytes, by exploiting host cell receptors, including alpha-5 beta-1 (α5β1) integrin. Previous studies have shown that <named-content content-type="genus-species">P. gingivalis</named-content> accelerates the cell cycle and prevents apoptosis of host cells, but it is not known whether the cell cycle phases influence bacterium-cell interactions. Risk Factors of Oral Cancer and Potentially malignant disorders (PMDs) – Developing a High / Low Risk Profiling System

Background: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remains a lethal and deforming disease, with a significant mortality and a rising incidence in younger and female patients. It is thus imperative to identify potential risk factors for OSCC and oral PMDs and to design an accurate data collection tool to try to identify patients at high risk of OSCC development. 14 factors consistently found to be associated with the pathogenesis of OSCC and oral PMDs. Eight of themwere identified as high risk (including tobacco, alcohol, betel quid, marijuana, genetic factors, age, diet and immunodeficiency) and 6 low risk (such as oral health, socioeconomic status, HPV, candida infection, alcoholic mouth wash and diabetes) were stratified according to severit
