Assessment of Nurse–Midwives' Knowledge and Practices toward Second Stage of Labor
...Show More Authors

Objective: To assess the nurses-midwives' knowledge and practices regarding the management of second stage
of labor and to find out the association between their knowledge and practices and socio-demographic
characteristics and working years and experience.
Methodology: A descriptive study was carried out from March 22nd
, 2008 through 30th June, 2008. A purposive
sample of (75) Nurse-Midwives which was selected from (6) hospitals. A questionnaire was comprised of two
parts: (socio-demographic characteristics and the assessment tool for Nurse-Midwives' knowledge and health
practices performed by them). The questionnaire validity was determined by experts and its reliability was
determined through a pilot study. The correlation coefficient was (0.90) for knowledge and (0.83) for practices.
Data were collected through interview and observational tool and analyzed through the application of descriptive
and inferential statistical approaches.
Results: The study findings indicated that there was a high mean of scores in Nurse-Midwives' knowledge and a
low mean of scores for their practices in most of the items regarding second stage of labor. The study findings
also indicated that there is a significant association between nurses-midwives' practices and their educational
level, and birth number average.
Recommendations: The study recommends that; installing in-service educational program for Nurse-Midwives
to upgrade the techniques necessary to assess, evaluate and improve the quality of care rendered to laboring
women, and to put an emphasis on the Ministry of Health to conduct training course for the Nurse-Midwives in
order to change their malpractices and updating their knowledge with regular supervision on their performance.

The research sample consisted of (87) individuals from families with intellectual disabilities in the Makkah region. The sample was selected by the simple random method where the researcher used the descriptive analytical approach. A questionnaire of (32) items was used as the research tool to collect data. The findings of the study showed that the assessment level of practicing physical activities by people with intellectual disabilities was low. The public facilities dimension ranked first with a moder

Immunization is one of the most cost-effective and successful public health applications. The results of immunization are difficult to see as the incidence of disease occurrence is low while adverse effects following the immunization are noticeable, particularly if the vaccine was given to apparently healthy person. High safety expectations of population regarding the vaccines so they are more prone to hesitancy regarding presence of even small risk of adverse events which may lead to loss of pub

Assessment of Water Quality Index and Water Suitability of the Tigris River for drinking water within Baghdad City, Iraq
...Show More Authors

In this study water quality was indicated in terms of Water Quality Index that was determined through summarizing multiple parameters of water test results. This index offers a useful representation of the overall quality of water for public or any intended use as well as indicating pollution, water quality management and decision making. The application of Water Quality Index
(WQI) with sixteen physicochemical water quality parameters was performed to evaluate the quality of Tigris River water for drinking usage. This was done by subjecting the water samples collected from eight stations in Baghdad city during the period 2004-2010 to comprehensive physicochemical analysis. The sixteen physicochemical parameters included: Turbidity, A

Assessment of Plasma Jet Therapy of Tooth Root Canal Infected with Escherichia Coli and Enterococcus Faecalis Biofilm In Vitro
...Show More Authors

Background: Common and persistent isolate ina the teeth following failed therapy of the root canal is the gram-positive facultative bacterium Enterococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli, which develop biofilm through a complicated process that results in the formation of a biofilm. Enterococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli are significant factors that cause chronic periradicular lesions after root canal therapy. Aim: This study aimed to treat the root canal tooth infected with Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis Methods: In this study biofilm formation was done for Escherichia coli in growth phase cultured in a brain heart broth Enterococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli cultured in Luria-Bertani (LB) infusion medium for 18 hrs. Abstract Background: One of the most important methods to replace lost teeth is dental implants. In order to increase the strength of connection of the implant with the jaw bone to provide early loading after placement, implant is coated by different coating materials that achieved that purpose. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of coating CP Ti implant with calcium carbonate on the strength of bone-implant interface after two and six weeks of implantation in rabbit femur bone by torque removal test, histological and histomorphometric analysis. Materials and methods: Coating the surface of commercially pure titanium screws with extra pure synthetic calcium carbonate via electrophoretic deposition method (EPD) was done. The

Background: Monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) is a chemokine expressed by inflammatory and endothelial cells. It has a crucial role in initiating, regulating, and mobilizing monocytes to active sites of periodontal inflammation. Its expression is also elevated in response to pro-inflammatory stimuli and tissue injury, both of which are linked to atherosclerotic lesions. Aim of the study: To determine the serum level of MCP-1 in patients with periodontitis and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in comparison to healthy control and evaluate the biomarker's correlations with periodontal parameters. methods: This study enrolled 88 subjects, both males and females, ranging in age from 36-66 years old, and divided into four groups: 1<
