Evaluation of Quality of Primary Health Care Services at Primary Health Care Centers in Baghdad City: A Comparative Study
...Show More Authors

Objective(s): To evaluate primary health care services at primary health care centers in Baghdad City and to compare between these primary health care centers relative to such quality. Methodology: A descriptive design, using the evaluation approach, is study to Evaluation of quality of primary care services at primary health care centers in Baghdad City. A multistage probability sample of (36) health care centers was selected. The sample consists of (12) model centers, (12) urban centers, and (12) rural centers.A constructedquestionnaire is composed of (23) items. It consisted of (5) parts that include intangible (5) items, reliability (5) items, response (4) items, emphasis and confidence (4) items and sympathy (5) items. Validity and reliability of the questionnaire are determined through pilot study. Data are collected through the use of the questionnaire and the interview technique as a means of data collection. Data are analyzed through the application of descriptive statistical data analysis approach of frequency, percentage, mean, range and total scores and inferential statistical data analysis approach of analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results: Findings of the study indicate that the primary health care services at most of the primary health care centers have high quality and there is no difference between the primary health care centers based on such quality. Recommendations: Managers of primary health care centers can be specialized with high degrees for better quality of primary health care services. Females can be presented with more opportunities to be managers. Periodic evaluation of primary health care services can be employed. Further and nation-wide research studies can be conducted for the determination of the quality of primary health care services.

Study of pollution by heavy elements in some parts of Baghdad
...Show More Authors

The objective of the present work is to measuring the concentration of heavy elements (Pb, Cd, Zn, As) in Baghdad's soil city and indication to the probable sources of pollution as well as comparing the concentration of heavy elements with local and international ranges. The Sampling and analyzing conducted in the present work included ( 15 ) Samples from Baghdad city ( three samples for each location ).The rates of heavy elements in soil samples were as following:. Pb ( 67.5 ) ppm, Cd ( 4.11 ) ppm , Zn ( 77.9 ) ppm , As ( 4.64 ) ppm. According to the results, we find increasing in the concentrations of the heavy elements ( Pb, Cd, Zn ) in soils and decreasing in ( As ).We conclude that the main reason behind the in

Evaluation of Heavy Metals Concentration in Street, Storm and Suspended Dust in Al-Zafaraniya Area, Baghdad- Iraq
...Show More Authors

The current study was applied in Al-Zafaraniya area southeast of the capital Baghdad from October 2021 to April 2022. This is to evaluate some heavy elements (Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Pb, and Mn) in the street, storm, and suspended dust. Four sampling sites were selected, and codes A, B, C, and D were given to represent the industrial activity sites, service workshops, business activity, and residential areas.

The results showed that the concentration rates of elements (Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Pb, Mn) in street dust samples were (1.15, 6.6, 60.15, 26770, 44.4, 6, 489.8). In storm dust (2, 10, 49.3, 54760, 24.3, 827.2) ppm, respectively, the results of suspended dust revealed that the general rates of element concentrations were (0.7

Trends of Neonatal Mortality in context of Case Overload in Al - Alwyia Pediatric Teaching Hospital at Baghdad during 2005-2012
...Show More Authors

Background: Data on the impact of neonatal and total pediatric admissions volume on neonatal mortality are sparse. Objectives: This study is done to estimate the neonatal mortality in relation to neonatal admissions and to total hospital admissions in Al-Alwyia Pediatric Teaching Hospital through years 2005-2012 Type of the study: A retrospective study. Methods: statistical records of all cases admitted to APTH were studied during 2005-2012.Results: Neonatal mortality decreased to the nadir at last year of study period (2012) and reached 6.1% of neonatal admissions compared to 2005 level which was 9.7 %. Mortality rate among premature and low birth weight (LBW) infants decreased also. The study also reveals that neonatal mortality constit

Effect of platelet rich-fibrin on alveolar osteitis incidence following surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars: A comparative study
...Show More Authors

Background: Postoperative morbidity after extraction of the impacted mandibular third molar (IMTM) is inevitable. One of the most common postoperative complication is alveolar osteitis (AO) which is a painful non healed socket. Many researches were attempted to prevent the occurrence of AO by introducing and applying a new materials inside the extraction socket. Platelet rich fibrin (PRF) is a biological complex fibrin matrix where autologous platelets and leucocytes are present, used to enhance tissue healing process and reduce the early adverse effects of the inflammation. Aims: To evaluate the effect of PRF on the incidence of AO. Also to assess PRF effect on pain, swelling, and trismus following the surgical removal of IMTM and compa

A comparative study of Williamson-Hall method and size-strain method through X-ray diffraction pattern of cadmium oxide nanoparticle
...Show More Authors

In this research, the Williamson-Hall method and of size-strain plot method was employed to analyze X- ray lines for evaluating the crystallite size and lattice strain and of cadmium oxide nanoparticles. the crystallite size value is (15.2 nm) and (93.1 nm) and lattice strain (4.2 x10−4 ) and (21x10−4) respectively. Also, other methods have been employed to evaluate the crystallite size. The current methods are (Sherrer and modified Sherrer methods ) and their results are (14.8 nm) and (13.9nm) respectively. Each method of analysis has a different result because the alteration in the crystallite size and lattice strain calculated according to the Williamson-Hall and size-strain plot methods shows that the non-uniform strain in nan

A comparative study on cytotoxicity and apoptotic activity of pyocyanin produced by wild type and mutant strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa
...Show More Authors

Nutrient agar medium with various concentrations of cefotaxime was used for isolation spontaneous mutants from wild type strain of P.aeruginosa PHA-1. Eighty-two mutants were successfully isolated with the viable count 52×107 , these mutants were confirmed as spontaneous not physiological adaption mutants by reculture on the same medium. Then, wild type PHA-1 and mutants were examined for production pyocyanin; a blue greenish pigment was clearly noticed on King A medium. Remarkably the mutant strain named S300-8 was distinguished in productivity in comparison with wild type strain PHA-1; the amount of pigment was 56.0667mg/l and 74.53mg/l respectively. In addition, pyocyanin produced by mutant strain S300-8 revealed a potent efficacy again

The concentrations of Natural Radioactivity in Fly Ash Released from Al-Dura thermal Power Plant in The south of Baghdad City
...Show More Authors

The concentrations of naturally radioactive made occurring and technically enhanced radioisotopes of fly ash samples, collected from Al-Dura thermal power Plant- south of Baghdad, have been investigated using the NaI(Tl) gamma-ray spectroscopy. The average Activity concentrations of the radio elements 238 U, 232Th and 40K in Fly ash samples are measured accurately and found to be 33.860, 32.6 and 644.64Bq/kg respectively. On the whole the radionuclide's concentrations are still below the global average of 50 Bq/kg for 238U and 232Th, but are much higher in 40K, relative to the global average, about 500 Bq/kg. The absorbed gamma doses in air, due to naturally occurring radionuclides in fly ash samples, are measured and found within the ra
