study the patient who entered in Baghdad teaching hospital, while another 100 was control study. The
data was collected by interview questionnaire including the purpose of study by the investigator and the
data obtained through face to face. Data was analyzed that of case control study including (frequency,
percent, odds ratio and confidence interval). Therefore, discriminating analysis was performed,
discriminating analysis was performed, with the level of significant set at P ≤ 0.05.
Results: Results presented that 30.5% of study was having acute renal failure, and highly statistical
significant association between the items related to the Family history of renal failure and with groups
(cases and control).
Recommendations: The study recommended that increase awareness about the health risks of renal
failure through educational programs and seminars and the provision of modern equipment and
medicines that help diagnosis and treatment

Determination of Some Polychlorinated Biphenyls in River Tigris within Baghdad City
...Show More Authors

A number of aqueous samples were collected from river Tigris in Baghdad city, enriched ~1000 times using solid phase extraction (SPE), then extracted the trace concentrations of some polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) using an aqueous two-phase system (ATPS) composed of 1Methylpyridinium chloride [MePy]Cl and KH2PO4 salt. High performance liquid chromatography technique coupled with ultraviolet (HPLC-UV) is used for the quantification. Extraction under the optimized conditions of pH, solvent composition, duration and temperature has given with a yield of PCB about 91%. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) for analyses are 0.11-0.62 µg.L−1 and 2.67–3.43 µg.L−1 respectively with relative stan

...Show More Authors

This study aims at detecting the differences in genotyping of coding region fusA gene in clinical isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii from Baghdad, Iraq. Collected two hundred clinical samples (50 samples from urine, 50 samples from wound, 50 samples from sputum and 50 samples from otitis infections). Laboratory diagnosis for bacterial isolates carried out by some biochemical tests and confirmed by using VITEK- 2 compact system. The results appeared that twenty isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii in all these samples. Genotyping study was performed of coding region fusA gene of the extracted genome of all bacterial isolates and used specific primers in achieved amplification process of this target gene. In Vitro Assessment of the Effects of Varying Dosages of Alexandrite Laser on the Development of Staphylococcus Aureus
...Show More Authors

Background: This study aimed to apply a high-power pulsed alexandrite laser in vitro, the researchers tested different exposure periods, pulse lengths, and laser fluencies to see which dosage was most successful against S. aureus bacteria, which had developed resistance to many antibiotics. Method: Three bacteria samples were exposed to laser beams for 30 seconds with a 5ms pulse duration and a laser fluency of 5J/cm2. The process was repeated with laser fluencies of 10, 15, and 20. Results: The study was carried out by using different doses of Alexandrite laser. Results: There are significant differences (p = 0.05) in the mean number of bacteria colonies exposed for 30 and 60 seconds at any laser fluencies utilized in the present i
