Effectiveness of an Intervention Oriented Program on the Prognosis of Osteopenia among Women at Private Clinics in Baghdad City
...Show More Authors

Objective: To determine the effectiveness of an Intervention Oriented program on the prognosis of Osteopenia among Women at Private clinics in Baghdad City. Methodology: A longitudinal design. A purposive ''non probability'' sample of (25) Women who have bone mineral density (BMD) T- test between (-1 to -2.5). The data are collected through the utilization of a constructed questionnaire and by means of interview with each client who is involved in the study. Each interview takes approximately (20) minutes. Results: The study showed that there is a good improvement in bone density accord after application of an intervention oriented program on the study sample (women). This improvement began in the first period, and became clear in the second period; in the third period the improvement became excellent in the each foot right and left. Recommendation: The study recommends that early detection of osteopenia in women is very important to prevent or at least delay the onset of symptoms, and the implementation of all parts of an intervention oriented program sports, nutrition, and pharmacology have positive benefits on bone mineral density, as recommended by the study it's very important to increase the health awareness about osteopenia throughout various media channels such as radio, television, newspapers and magazines. And it's very important application of screening program for effective strategies of the early detection of obesity at each main primary health care center in health sector nationwide.

Structural and photoluminescence properties of CdO doped TiO2 thin films prepared by pulsed laser deposition
...Show More Authors

TiO2 thin films have been deposited at different concentration of
CdO of (x= 0.0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15 and 0.2) Wt. % onto glass substrates
by pulsed laser deposition technique (PLD) using Nd-YAG laser
with λ=1064nm, energy=800mJ and number of shots=500. The
thickness of the film was 200nm. The films were annealed to
different annealing (423 and 523) k. The effect of annealing
temperatures and concentration of CdO on the structural and
photoluminescence (PL) properties were investigated. X-ray
diffraction (XRD) results reveals that the deposited TiO2(1-x)CdOx
thin films were polycrystalline with tetragonal structure and many
peaks were appeared at (110), (101), (111) and (211) planes with
preferred orientatio

Characterization and mechanical performance of stone mastic asphalt mixtures modified with SBS and PE polymers
...Show More Authors

This study investigates the characterization and mechanical performance of Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) mixtures modified with two types of polymers: styrene–butadiene–styrene (SBS) and high-molecular-weight polyethylene (PE). Neat asphalt cement PG 64-16 was modified using a higher content of SBS and PE at concentrations of 6%, 7%, and 8% by weight of asphalt through the dry blending method to produce Highly Modified Asphalts (HiMA). The physical and rheological properties of the modified binders were evaluated using penetration, softening point, rotational viscosity, and dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) tests. Also, their phase compatibility and morphological changes were evaluated using the storage stability testing and scanning electron

Case Report.

Objective

To present a case of a previous complicated mandibular orthognathic surgery that aimed to setback the mandible in a female cleft lip and palate (CLP) patient, which led to bone necrosis on one side with subsequent severe mandibular deviation and facial asymmetry. We additionally reviewed the previous reports of similar complications, the pathophysiology and the factors that could lead to this dreadful result.

Method

A 27-year-old female patient presented with a severe dentofacial deformity secondary to a complicated bilateral sagittal spli

Extraction of Essential Oil from IraqiEucalyptus CamadulensisLeaves by Water Distillation Methods
...Show More Authors

The extraction of Eucalyptus oil from Iraqi Eucalyptus Camadulensis leaves was studded using water distillation methods. The amount of Eucalyptus oil has been determined in a variety of extraction temperature and agitation speed. The effect of water to Eucalyptus leaves (solvent to solid) ratio and particle size of Eucalyptus leaves has been studied in order to evaluate the amount of Eucalyptus oil. The optimum experimental condition for the Eucalyptus oil extraction was established as follows: 100˚C extraction temperature, 200 rpm agitation speed; 0.5 cm leave particle size and 6:1 ml: g amount of water to eucalyptus leaves Ratio.

Green Porous Composite for Combining Ion Exchange-Adsorptive Removal of Zinc Ions from Aqueous Solutions
...Show More Authors

A low-cost, effective green porous composite was prepared and used for the sorption of Zn+2 ions from aqueous solutions. The effect of contact time, sorbent dosage, initial ion concentration, solution pH, and temperature on the sorption of Zn+2 ions was investigated. The results showed higher removal efficiency of Zn+2 ions (83%), which was achieved at a contact time of 120 minutes, a normal pH of 6.4, and a temperature of 313 K. The Langmuir isotherm model successfully described the experimental results of the sorption process with a theoretical maximum sorption capacity of 4.819 mg/g. The kinetics of sorption showed that the pseudo-second-order model fitted the experimental results better than the pseudo-first-order model. The int

Phenolic Content and Antioxidant, Antibacterial Activities of Ethanolic Extract From Lemon Balm and Oregano Plants
...Show More Authors

The antioxidant and antibacterial activities of ethanolic extract and phenolic compounds extract of Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) and Oregano (Oreganum vulgare) plants were studied; the phenolic content and the relationship between these compounds and the above activities were also investigated. The results showed that the Lemon balm had the highest phenolic content (56.5% mg g) and the phenolic content of Oregano was twice lower than Lemon balm. Lemon balm has the highest antioxidant activity which causes lipid peroxidation inhibition activity of linoleic acid (90.5%), this activity was more than ?-tocopherole antioxidant activity (79.3 %). It was found that the main source of antioxidant ac
