Abstract The percent study aimed to determination the association between infant feeding practices and Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM). The study was conducted at (he National Center of Diabetes in Baghdad City the Capital of Iraq throughout the period of January 2001 to January 2002. The sample was comprised of (200) mother of Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM) of children under age of 12 years old. Data was collected through the use of a questionnaire that constructed by researcher and which were developed for the purpose of the present study. Reliability of the instruments was determination through use of person correlation coefficient for the test- retest approach was (0.87) and the instruments validity was determined through content validity which was determined by a panel of expert. Analysis of data was performed through the application of descriptive statistics. The study result had revealed that the majority of diabetic children are bottle-feeding and the lowest are breast feeding, these findings mean that is association between infant feeding practices and the incidence of Insulin - Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM). The study concluded that the diabetes mellitus was highly incidence among children of artificial feeding and low incidence among children of breast-feeding. It was also recommended that the duration of breast-feeding should be continuous at least until the first six mouths of the child age especially those of families at risk of Diabetes.

Determanation of Several Biochemical Parameters in Sera of Iraqi Patients with type 2 Diabetes
...Show More Authors

Diabetes mellitus, or simply diabetes, is a group of metabolic diseases in which a person has high blood sugar, either because the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or because cells do not respond to the insulin that is produced. This high blood sugar produces the classical symptoms of polyuria (frequent urination), polydipsia (increased thirst), and polyphagia (increased hunger). The aim of the study is to measure several biochemical parameters in T2DM patients and the effect of these parameters in development the disease. Laboratory investigations including Ceruloplasmin , fasting blood glucose (FBG) , malondialdehyde (MDA), serum protein, uric acid, and protein electrophoresis have been measured in patients with type

Bond Stresses between Reinforcing Bar and Reactive Powder Concrete
...Show More Authors

A good performance of reinforced concrete structures is ensured by the bond between steel and concrete, which makes the materials work together, forming a part of solidarity. The behavior of the bond between the reinforcing bar and the surrounding concrete is significant to evaluate the cracking control in serviceability limit state and load capacity in the ultimate limit state. In this investigation, the bond stresses between reinforcing bar and reactive powder concrete (RPC) was considered to compare it with that of normal strength concrete (NSC). The push-out test with short embedment length is considered in this study to evaluate the bond strength, bond stress-slip relationship, and bond stress-crack width relationsh
