Aims: The present study aims at assessing mothers’ knowledge of breastfeeding in Kirkuk governorate,
besides determining the relationship between mothers’ knowledge and some of their demographic
attributes.
Methodolgy: A descriptive study was used the assessment approach and applied on mothers in Kirkuk
governorate from January 15th 2011 to July 25th
, 2011. Non-probability sampling a convenience sample of
(72) mothers, attending pediatric general hospital in Kirkuk governorate for following up the health status
of their children, was selected for the purpose of the study. A questionnaire was developed for the
purpose of the study. It was comprised of two parts; the first part includes the mothers' demographic
attributes and the second part assessed the knowledge of breastfeeding with (20) True or False questions.
A pilot study was carried out for the period of January 15th to 25th, 2011 to determine the questionnaire
reliability through the use of (Test – Retest). A panel of (8) experts was involved in the determination of the
questionnaire content validity. Data were analyzed through the application of descriptive statistical data
analysis approach (frequency and percentage), and inferential data analysis approach (chi-square).
Results: The study findings revealed that more than half (58.3%) of mothers were young, (45.8%) of them
had completed primary school, more than two-third (84.7%) of them were housewife mothers, (61.1%) of
them have lived inside Kirkuk city, also (61.1) of mothers have more than one children, (63.9%) of them
were regularly visited primary health care center during antenatal period and only (40.3%) of them have
received antenatal orientation about breastfeeding. According to the level of knowledge of breastfeeding,
(66.7%) of mothers answered correctly all questions about breastfeeding, and there was a highly significant
relationship between health education during antenatal period and mothers’ knowledge of breastfeeding.
Recommendations: The study findings highlight the need for excessive health education about
breastfeeding during antenatal period and advice the mothers to comply with recommended visits during
pregnancy period.

The effects of temperature on an exotic aquatic snail Pomacea canaliculata (Lamarck, 1819) collected from the Shatt Al-Arab intertidal zone were investigated. A series of laboratory experiments were conducted during the summer period of 2017. Individuals of new born snails hatched in the laboratory from adult snails were collected from Shatt Al-Arab intertidal zone, and subjected to five fixed temperatures: 15, 25, 35, 40 and 45 Cº, after short term thermal acclimation. Zusammenfassung: Das Drama " Minna von Barnhelm von Lessing ist ein weltbekannts Drama, das in verschiedene Sprachen übersetzt wurde. Es beschreibt die Schwierigkeiten eines Offiziers, der bestraft wurde. Er verlor seinen Job und auch seine Ehre. Minna ist seine Verlobte, die ihn suchte und auch neben ihm stehen wollte. Trotzdem sie ihm in einem Hotel zufällig begegnete, hatten die beide immer noch Probleme. Am Ende des Dramas könnten sie alle ihrer Probleme lösen und hatten schönes Ende.

An aromatic ester containing two azo groups namely p-nitro phenyl azo-β-naphthyl-(4'-azobenzoic acid)-4-benzoate was synthesized by esterfiaction of 4,4'-azo dibenzoic acid with p-nitro phenyl azo-β-naphthol. Synthesized ester was characterized by CHN-Elemental analysis, FTIR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR. A modified PVA polymer was obtained by grafting 10 g of PVA-polymer via partial esterification with (2, 3, 4 g) p-nitro phenyl azo-1-naphthyl-4-azobenzoic acid)-4-azo benzoate. Grafting PVA-polymer behaviours was studied, by physical measurements (solubility, swelling), thermal properties (DSC) and tensile.
The azo Schiff base [Reaction of 4-aminoanypyrine and P-hydroxy acetophenone] and O-Phenylene diamine have been prepared. One azo Schiff base chelate of Co(Il), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II)ion was also prepared. The chemical frameworks of the azo Schiff base and like elemental analyses (CHN), determinations of molar conductance, 1 H &13C NMR, IR mass and electronic spectroscopy .The elemental analyses exhibited the combination of [L: M] 1:1 ratio.
