Bioactive Effect of Cinnamomum zealynicum bark Extracts on Some Locally Isolated Pathogenic Bacteria
...Show More Authors

A series of experiments were conducted to evaluate the antibacterial effect of Cinnamomum zealynicum bark aqueous , methanol, and chloroform extracts against some gram positive and gram negative pathogenic bacteria which isolated from wound, throat infection, urine and stool during the period from December /2013 to February /2014 from Alkarama hospital in Wasit. All these isolates were identified by using VITEK2 compact system. Antibiotic sensitivity test of the bacterial isolates was determined for ten antibiotics. Chemical analysis showed that Cinnamomum zeylanicum bark extracts contained different active compounds (phenoles, alkaloids, tannins, glycosides, coumarins, saponins, resins flavones and essential oil). The laboratory tests of antibacterial activity , showed that Staphylococcus aureus was the most affected by the extracts under study then followed with Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae respectively. Aqueous extract showed highest values in MIC (400 μg/ml) and MBC (450 μg/ml) for S aureus, followed by chloroform (350 μg/ml, MIC and 400 μg/ml, MBC), then methanol (335 μg/ml, MIC and 375 μg/ml MBC) while the lowest values were recorded for K. pneumonia (MIC 175, 200 and 250 μg/ml, and MBC 200, 250 and 300 μg/ml respectively). In other hand inhibition zones appeared at 200 μg/ml for S. aureus and E. faecalis, and at 300 μg/ml for E. coli and S. pneumonia, and at 400 μg/ml for K. pneumoniae for aqueous extract, while methanol extract inhibition zones started from 100 μg/ml for S. aureus, and at 200 μg/ml for S. pneumonia and E. faecalis, and at 300 μg/ml for K. pneumonia and E. coli. Chloroform extract showed inhibition zones for S. pneumonia, E. faecalis and S. aureus at 200 μg/ml and for E coli and K. pneumoniae at 300 μg/ml.

Determination of the Optimum Conditions in Evaluation of Kiwi Juice as Green Corrosion Inhibitor of Steel in Hydrochloric Acid
...Show More Authors

The corrosion protection of low carbon steel in 2.5 M HCl solution by kiwi juice was studied at different temperatures and immersion times by weight loss technique. To study the determination of the optimum conditions from statistical design in evaluation of a corrosion inhibitor, three variables, were considered as the most dominant variables. These variables are: temperature, inhibitor concentration (extracted kiwi juice) and immersion time at static conditions.

These three variables are manipulated through the experimental work using central composite rotatable Box – Wilson Experimental Design (BWED) where second order polynomial model was proposed to correlate the studied variables with the corrosion rate o

Estimation of the healing effects of the topical use of MEBO and hyaluronic acid gel in the burned rats
...Show More Authors

Exposing the dorsal superficial skin of rats to partial-depth burn leads to bacterial and microbes Invasion. Topical treatment is required in most superficial burn cases Moist exposed burn ointment (MEBO) protects wounds from infection and enhances healing without any harmful effects of purified chemicals is caused. The topical using of HA gel in rat models with full and partial thickness surgical wounds shows enhancement in wound repair. In this study, we compared the healing efficacy of topical use of hyaluronic acid gel products with MEBO as standard management in rats that were exposed to a partial-thickness burn. The experiment included twenty-four (24) adult albino rats of male sex with weight (150-220 gm) of 3 months’ age divided i

Records of two regionalized variables were processed for each of porosity and permeability of reservoir rocks in Zubair Formation (Zb-109) south Iraq as an indication of the most important reservoir property which is the homogeneity, considering their important results in criterion most needed for primary and enhanced oil reservoirs. The results of dispersion treatment, the statistical incorporeal indications, boxes plots, rhombus style and tangents angles of intersected circles indicated by confidence interval of porosity and permeability data, have shown that the reservoir rocks of Zubair units (LS),(1L) and (DJ) have reservoir properties of high quality,in contrast to that of Zubair units (MS) and (AB)which have reservoir properties of less q
