Salt Eruptions and Their Role in the Shaping of the Oil Trapping for Selected Fields in Eastern Iraq
...Show More Authors

This research had been achieved using 2D seismic sections to study the presence of subsurface salty bodies in the Khashim Al-Ahmer, Galabat, Injana fields as a case study. The selected oil fields is located to the northeast of Baquba city within Diyala Governorate.

The study aims to determine the salt accumulations of the selected fields and their role in the formation of oil traps.

The interpretation of seismic data was focused on two reflectors Fatha and Jeribe Formations which belong to the lower and Middle Miocene. Structurally, Two systems of reversal faults are affecting the fields, according to seismic sections, the first represents thrust faults affected on the top part of Fatha (Red Beds & Seepage) and the layers above with large displacements and trending in an NW-SE orientation; The separation surface of these faults is the salt bed in the Fatha Formation. the second represents reversal faults affected on the lower section of Fatha (Transition beds) and the layers beneath with high displacements.

The research concludes Petroleum flow from the source was directed by the faults created by the broad Zagros tectonism to Miocene and younger traps, also seal fracturing exceeds vertical petroleum flow. The differences in fault types are caused by the presence of a salt bed within the Fatha Formation and the high variation in its thickness at the crest and flanks. So, the main recommendation of research is to implement a 3D seismic survey covering these fields to determine salt body areas.

A Study of the Nutritional Behavior and Body Mass Indexes for Students of Age (17-25) Years In Baghdad, Iraq.
...Show More Authors

The aim of this study was to assess the nutritional status for samples at the age of 17-15 years. These samples were taken from secondary schools and universities in Baghdad area, 123 of them were male and 261 were female. Data on weight, height and body mass index (BMI) were determined in each individual. Smaller sample of 215 individuals (male and female) from the original sample was taken in order to record their nutritional behavior and daily food intake during the 24 hours prior to the visit through personal meeting using special questionnaire. The results showed that the weight and the height were within the range of the people of neighboring Arab countries, who are in the same age. Beside 44.4- 55.95% of these samples were within t

The monogenean Gyrodactylus taimeni Ergens, 1971 was recorded in this study for the first time in Iraq from gills of the common carp Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758. The description and measurements of this parasite as well as illustration were given. In addition, a list of species of Gyrodactylus so far recorded from C. carpio in Iraq is also included together with a list of all other hosts recorded for each gyrodactylid species.

The impact of governmental consumer spending on the development of the current account balance in Iraq for the period (1990-2014) using ARDL model

To avoid the negative effects due to inflexibility of the domestic production inresponse to the increase in government consumption expenditure leads to more  imports to meet the increase in domestic demand resulting from the increase in government consumption expenditure. Since the Iraqi economy economy yield unilateral depends on oil revenues to finance spending, and the fact government consumer spending is a progressive high flexibility the increase in overall revenues, while being a regressive flexibility is very low in the event of reduced public revenues, and therefore lead to a deficit in the current account position. And that caused the deficit for imbalance are the disruption of the

Microfacies analysis and sequence stratigraphy of Oligocene formations within Bai Hassan oil field, Northern Iraq
...Show More Authors

Bai Hassan Oil field is considered one of the important north Iraq oil fields. The giant oil field of Bai-Hassan is located near Kirkuk City in North Iraq. The field consists of two domes (in SE – NW direction) Kithka Dome and Dauod Dome separated by a narrow saddle called Shashal saddle.

The current study is focused on microfacies analysis to interpret the stratigraphic sequence of the Palani Formation (early – lower Oligocene age), Baba, Bajawan and Tarjil Formations (middle Oligocene age).

The Bajawan Formation consists basically of five microfacies easily recognizable throughout the thin section. These microfacies are Lime Mudstone Microfacies, Miliolid Packestone Microfacies, Miliolid Grainstone Microfacie

Petroleum System Modeling of Halfaya Oil Field South of Iraq
...Show More Authors

The petroleum system of Halfaya oil field shows that the hydrocarbon generation of these Formations such as Sha′uiba and Nahr Umr are immature and have generated few oil TR ≤ 50% which are neglected as compared to Formations below them which are very rich source rock. The Formations of Yamama, Ratawi and Sulaiy are mature with TR ≤ 100%. Other Formations such as Sargelu ,Najma,Zubair and Gotnia are with very high maturity with TR ≥ 100% and completely generated hydrocarbon and depleted after hydrocarbon are expelled and migrate to reservoir rock of structure traps and this study indicates that the major seals of Upper Jurassic are Gotnia and Allan Formations and of Middle Miocene is LowerFars fatha Formation.
