A Taxonomic Study of Species Peltariaangustifolia DC. from Brassicaceae Family in Iraq
...Show More Authors

The research was aimed tostudy themorphological and anatomical characteristics as well as habitatand geographical distributionof speciesPeltariaangustifolia DC., This study indicated that the plant specimens are perennial glabrous herbs, distinguished by the presence of distinct basal and cauline leaves, and simple corymb inflorescence. Flowers perianth consists of four obovate sepals, and four spathulate petals, with hexanderiaandroecium characterized by dilated filaments from the bases and gynoecium consists of obovate ovary and sessile stigma, the fruit reticulate silicula, and the seeds are ovate-elliptical with faintly reticulate configuration. As for the anatomical study, it included the study of the dimensions and characteristics of each root, stem, leaf, as well as the nature of the leaf venation, and cuticular study. A study of the geographical distribution showed that the species is very rare in Iraq. It is located in the mountain region and exclusively in Jabal Sinjar district.

ANATOMICAL STUDY OF SOME SPECIES BELONGING TO THE PAPAVERACEAE FAMILY IN NORTH OF IRAQ
...Show More Authors

The anatomical features of leaves and stems of seven species belonging to five genera of the Papaveraceae family were studied, including: Fumaria bracteosa Pomel, 1875; Glaucium grandiflorum Boissier & A. Huet,1856; Hypecoum pendulum Linnaeus, 1753; Papaver fugax Poiret,1804; Papaver macrostomum Boissier & A. Huet, 1867; Papaver rhoeas Linnaeus, 1753 and Roemeria refracta de Candolle,1821. The results showed that the anticlinal cell walls of the adaxial surface were more thickened in P. fugax, H. pendulum, P. macrostomum and R.refracta, while it was thin in P. rhoeas. The cur

This research delts with study seven species of seeds and wild varieties wild belonging to the genus Medicago L., these species are: M. constricta Dur., M. coronata (L.) Bartal., M. intertexta (L.) Mill., M. intertexta.var. ciliaris (L.) Hyen., M. laciniata (L.) Mill., M. lupulina L., M. minima (L.) Bartal. and M. sativa L., the research involved characteristics of shapes, dimensions, colors and the nature of the surface ornamentation of seeds and also the hilum site. the seeds forms ranged between crescent, reniform and ovate, in addition there was a clear difference in seeds dimensions in height and width, while, the color has been vary between light brown to brown and dark brown. The nature of the surface ornamentation was smooth, retic

Biological aspects of pollen development in six species of Brassicaceae
...Show More Authors

The present investigation revealed cytological variations for six species (Eruca sativa, Sisymbirium irio, Diplotaxis harra, Erucaria hispanica, Schimpera Arabica and Brassica tournefortii ) belong to the Brassicaceaefamily. The flower buds were collected from Al-Habania lake that located in Al-Anbar-Iraq. Using iron-acetocarmine squash technique in anther-smear studies which revealed a chromosomal anomalies such as Lagging/brddge chromosomes, Micronuclei & initiated delay of four daughter cells. The frequency of abnormalities ranged (0.04 - 0.77%) which indicated the unstable heredity source of most wildplants. The pollen grains viability was estimated using acetocarmine stain, viable grains had stained, while sterile grains had not.T

STUDY OF FRUITS MORPHOLOGICAL FEATURES FOR 33 SPECIES BELONG TO CRUCIFERAE FAMILY IN IRAQ
...Show More Authors

The research was aimed to identify fruits morphological characteristics of 33 taxa belonging to the Lepidieae tribe from Brassicaceae. The characteristics of the fruit's general shape, apex shape, dimensions, colors, surface ornamentation, and beak were determined, the results indicated the importance of each of those characters in isolated species, In general, all the tribe's fruits were open capsule and short silicula. According to the dimensions of fruit, three species can be distinguished as a group with dimensions greater than 20mm, as in Brossardia, Coluteocarpus, and Didymophysa, and depending on the shape, it was possible to differentiate the species within this group, while the other species were less than 20 mm. in dimensi
