Response surface methodology (RSM) based on central composite design was successfully applied to redesign MRS media for maximizing both biomass and bacteriocin production from Lactobacillus plantarum NH40. First, glucose and yeast extract were chosen as the best carbon and nitrogen sources based on classical optimization results of one factor at time which also revealed the possibility of eliminating peptone and meat extract from the original composition of medium without affecting the growth and bacteriocin production. Statistical experimental design based on a regression model generated using the Design expert 7 software showed that the optimum concentrations of glucose, yeast extract, tween80, NH4Cr, CH3COONa and K2PO4 were 40, 19.9, 1, 3.06, 7, 1.25 g/L respectively for maximum production of biomass (15.87 mg/mL) and bacteriocin (634.74 U/mL). In addition, from the analysis of variance, yeast extract with F-value 77.2 and glucose with 185.4 were the most effective factors on biomass and bacteriocin production. Formulation of empirical model explained that the interaction among factors showed that the determination coefficient R2 of biomass and bacteriocin production were 0.8777 and 0.8539 respectively. Furthermore, the accuracy of model of the optimized MRS medium suggested by design expert 7 for both biomass and bacteriocin was verified and results showed that concentrations of biomass and bacteriocin were 15 mg/mL and 640AU/mL respectively, which were approximately closed to predicted values.
During 2011, 1900 clinical specimens and 240 hospital environment specimens were collected from four hospitals in Baghdad. 128 isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii were obtained from clinical and environmental specimens in a percentage of 6.05% and 5.42%, respectively. The highest percentage of isolation, 83.62% was of sputum specimens and lower percentage of burns specimens 5.22%. The lowest incidence was of age range (71-80) years old group whereas the highest incidence was of age range (31-40) years old group. This field experiment, was conducted to investigate a comparison of two methods for harvesting potatoes: mechanical and handy when using moldboard and chisel plow for primary tillage and three different distances for planting tubers in the rows 15, 25, and 35 cm in silt clay loam soil south of Baghdad. The factorial experiment followed a randomized complete block design with three replications using L.S.D. 5 % and 1 %. Mechanical harvest recorded the best valid potato tubers at 88.78 %, marketable yield of 31.74 ton. ha-1, efficiency lifted 95.68 %, tubers damage index 28.41, speeding up the harvesting process and reducing time and effort. Layer by layer development two features of pulsed laser deposition PLD, with a high kinetic energy and sharp instantaneous deposition rating. Layered films of polymer/metal/ceramic nanocomposites consisting of polystyrene PS(as substrate) , tin Sn and cadmium oxide CdO were deposited by PLD. Structure for layered samples were measured by XRD X ray diffraction, there were appearance of peaks which reflected to formation of new compounds result of reaction between layers. Particles size was calculated using two methods and it give nanoscale. Microstrain was also calculated and exhibited high value (0.01) for sample p/m.
