Using Retrieved Sources for Semantic and Lexical Plagiarism Detection

Plagiarism is described as using someone else's ideas or work without their permission. Using lexical and semantic text similarity notions, this paper presents a plagiarism detection system for examining suspicious texts against available sources on the Web. The user can upload suspicious files in pdf or docx formats. The system will search three popular search engines for the source text (Google, Bing, and Yahoo) and try to identify the top five results for each search engine on the first retrieved page. The corpus is made up of the downloaded files and scraped web page text of the search engines' results. The corpus text and suspicious documents will then be encoded as vectors. For lexical plagiarism detection, the system will leverage Jaccard similarity and Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TFIDF) techniques, while for semantic plagiarism detection, Doc2Vec and Sentence Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (SBERT) intelligent text representation models will be used. Following that, the system compares the suspicious text to the corpus text. Finally, a generated plagiarism report will show the total plagiarism ratio, the plagiarism ratio from each source, and other details.

Detection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Clinical Samples Using PCR Targeting ETA and gyrB Genes

Pseudomonas aeruginosa has variety of virulence factors that contribute to its pathogenicity. Therefore, rapid detection with high accuracy and specificity is very important in the control of this pathogenic bacterium. To evaluate the accuracy and specificity of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) assay, ETA and gyrB genes were targeted to detect pathogenic strains of P. aeruginosa. Seventy swab samples were taken from patients with infected wounds and burns in two hospitals in Erbil and Koya cities in Iraq. The isolates were traditionally identified using phenotypic methods, and DNA was extracted from the positive samples, to apply PCR using the species specific primers targeting ETA, the gene encoding for exotoxin A, and gyrB gene. The res

Laser Detection and Tracking System Using an Array of Photodiodes with Fuzzy Logic controller

In this work laser detection and tracking system (LDTS) is designed and implemented using a fuzzy logic controller (FLC). A 5 mW He-Ne laser system and an array of nine PN photodiodes are used in the detection system. The FLC is simulated using MATLAB package and the result is stored in a lock up table to use it in the real time operation of the system. The results give a good system response in the target detection and tracking in the real time operation.

Detecting and Monitoring the Vegetal Cover of Karbala Province (Iraq) Using Change Detection Methods

Karbala province was one of the most important areas in Iraq and considered an
economic resource of vegetation such as trees of fruits, sieve and other vegetation.
This research aimed to utilize change detection for investigating the current
vegetation cover at last three decay. The main objectives of this research are collect
a group of studied area (Karbala province) satellite images in sequence time for
the same area, these image captured by Landsat (TM 1995, ETM+ 2005 and
Landsat 8 OLI (Operational Land Imager) 2015. Preprocessing such as atmosphere
correction and rectification has been done. Mosaic model between the parts of
studied area was performing. Gap filling consider being very important step has

Developing Arabic License Plate Recognition System Using Artificial Neural Network and Canny Edge Detection

In recent years, there has been expanding development in the vehicular part and the number of vehicles moving on the roads in all the sections of the country. Arabic vehicle number plate identification based on image processing is a dynamic area of this work; this technique is used for security purposes such as tracking of stolen cars and access control to restricted areas. The License Plate Recognition System (LPRS) exploits a digital camera to capture vehicle plate numbers is used as input to the proposed recognition system. Basically, the proposed system consists of three phases, vehicle license plate localization, character segmentation, and character recognition, the

Morphology Detection in Archaeological Ancient Sites by Using UAVs/Drones Data and GIS techniques

Today, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or Drones are a valuable source of data on inspection, surveillance, mapping and 3D modelling matters. Drones can be considered as the new alternative of classic manned aerial photography due to their low cost and high spatial resolution. In this study, drones were used to study archaeological sites. The archaeological Nineveh site, which is a very famous site located in heart of the city of Mosul, in northern Iraq, was chosen. This site was the largest capital of the Assyrian Empire 3000 years ago. The site contains an external wall that includes many gates, most of which were destroyed when Daesh occupied the city in 2014. The local population of the city of Mosul has also large

Sprite Region Allocation Using Fast Static Sprite Area Detection Algorithm

Background: Sprite coding is a very effective technique for clarifying the background video object. The sprite generation is an open issue because of the foreground objects which prevent the precision of camera motion estimation and blurs the created sprite. Objective: In this paper, a quick and basic static method for sprite area detection in video data is presented. Two statistical methods are applied; the mean and standard deviation of every pixel (over all group of video frame) to determine whether the pixel is a piece of the selected static sprite range or not. A binary map array is built for demonstrating the allocated sprite (as 1) while the non-sprite (as 0) pixels valued. Likewise, holes and gaps filling strategy was utilized to re

Arabic Cyberbullying Detection Using Support Vector Machine with Cuckoo Search

Cyberbullying is one of the biggest electronic problems that takes multiple forms of harassment using various social media. Currently, this phenomenon has become very common and is increasing, especially for young people and adolescents. Negative comments have a significant and dangerous impact on society in general and on adolescents in particular. Therefore, one of the most successful prevention methods is to detect and block harmful messages and comments. In this research, negative Arabic comments that refer to cyberbullying will be detected using a support vector machine algorithm. The term frequency-inverse document frequency vectorizer and the count vectorizer methods were used for feature extraction, and the results wer

Molecular Detection of Suspected Leishmania Isolates Using Polymerase Chain Reaction

Leishmaniasis is a widespread parasitic disease that occurs as a result of infection with a unicellular parasite belonging to the genus Leishmania. Diagnosis by conventional methods is inaccurate and is not sensitive to confirm the genus infection. Here, we have investigated a methods for Leishmania genus diagnosis, which includes the technique of polymerase chain reaction to detect the presence of the parasite at in vitro for promastigote cultures using three genus-specific primer pairs to amplify HSP70, ITS, and ITS2. The results showed single band of ~1422, ~1020, and ~550 respectively. This study has proved the ability of these primer pairs to detect Leishmania infection and recommend them to be used for detection of leishmaniasis in
