Most systems are intelligent and the industrial world is moving now towards
technology. Most industrial systems are now computerized and offer a high speed.
However, Face recognition is a biometric system that can identify people from their
faces. For few number of people to be identified, it can be considered as a fast
system. When the number of people grew to be bigger, the system cannot be adopted
in a real-time application because its speed will degrade along with its accuracy.
However, the accuracy can be enhanced using pre-processing techniques but the
time delay is still a challenge. A series of experiments had been done on AT&TORL
database images using Enhanced Face Recognition System (EFRS) that is
adopting a Local Binary Pattern Histogram (LBPH) as feature extraction method.
During these experiments, LBP parameters and pre-processing techniques have been
changing and the results were recorded for accuracy and time for different database
sizes. The accuracy reaches 98.5% but the time delay keep increasing with the
number of people in the database.
The largest use of x-ray in medical by dentists, employers or persons that needed by patients with specific conditions, lead to higher exposure of x-ray that may cause many diseases. In the present work radiography films have been used in evaluating the efficiency of using unsaturated polyester polymer reinforced with lead oxide (PbO) as shield material for medical x-ray devices, many parameters studied like concentration and thickness that they are increasing the attenuation of x-ray in them. The radon gas concentration in environmental samples soil and water of selected regions in Al-Najaf governorate was measured by using alpha-emitters registrations which are emitted form radon gas in (CR-39) nuclear track detector. This study expands the state of the art in studies that assess torsional retrofit of reinforced concrete (RC) multi-cell box girders with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips. The torsional behavior of non-damaged and pre-damaged RC multi-cell box girder specimens externally retrofitted by CFRP strips was investigated through a series of laboratory experiments. It was found that retrofitting the pre-damaged specimens with CFRP strips increased the ultimate torsional capacity by more than 50% as compared to the un-damaged specimens subjected to equivalent retrofitting.
