Diagnosis the Breast Cancer using Bayesian Rough Set Classifier

Breast cancer was one of the most common reasons for death among the women in the world. Limited awareness of the seriousness of this disease, shortage number of specialists in hospitals and waiting the diagnostic for a long period time that might increase the probability of expansion the injury cases. Consequently, various machine learning techniques have been formulated to decrease the time taken of decision making for diagnoses the breast cancer and that might minimize the mortality rate. The proposed system consists of two phases. Firstly, data pre-processing (data cleaning, selection) of the data mining are used in the breast cancer dataset taken from the University of California, Irvine machine learning repository in this stage we modified the Correlation Feature Selection (CFS) with Best First Search (BFS) established on the Discriminant Index (DI) so as to reduce the complexity of time and get high accuracy. Secondly, Bayesian Rough Set (BRS) classifier is applied to predict the breast cancer and help the inexperienced doctors to make decisions without need the direct discussion with the specialist doctors. The result of experiments showed the proposed system give high accuracy with less time of predication the disease.

The role of Tru-cut needle biopsy in the diagnosis of palpable breast masses.

Background: Breast Lump Is The Second Most Common Presenting Symptom, After Breast Pain, To The Breast Clinic. Tru-Cut Needle Biopsy Provides Enough Tissue For Histopathological Diagnosis And Is Considered A Reliable Method For Establishing Preoperative Tissue Diagnosis.

Objectives: To Compare The Results Of Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC), Tru-Cut Needle Biopsy With Excisional Biopsy In Detecting Breast Cancer In Palpable Breast Masses.

Results: This Study Shows That Tru-Cut Needle Biopsy Is Superior To FNAC In Confirming Breast Cancer In Palpable Breast Masses With Suspicion Of Malignancy And It Can Give Definitive Histopathological Diagnosis Of The Lesion With L

Assessment of Health Beliefs Among Iraqi Breast Cancer Patients in Baghdad using either Tamoxifen or Trastuzumab

Breast cancer is the most diagnosed form of malignant tumour in Iraqi women. Tamoxifen and trastuzumab are highly effective adjuvant therapy for breast cancer.

This study's objectives were to define the patient's belief in tamoxifen or trastuzumab when used as adjuvant therapy and to determine the variation in belief between the two medications in a sample of Iraqi breast cancer patients.

The cross-section survey was conducted using the BMQ-Specific questionnaire. Ninety-seven participants (sixty-seven tamoxifen, thirty trastuzumab) participated in this study.

The mean of specific-necessity scale for tamoxifen was (3.7) and for trastuzumab (4). The findings showed a high necessity for both medicines, and there wer

Evaluating Expression of the STAG1 Gene as a Potential Breast Cancer Biomarker

STAG proteins, which are part of the cohesin complex and encoded by the STAG genes, are known as Irr1/Scc3 in yeast and as SA/STAG/stromalin in mammals. There are more variants as there are alternate splice sites, maybe three open reading frames (ORFs) code for three main proteins, including: SA1 (STAG1), SA2 (STAG2) and SA3 (STAG3). The cohesin protein complex has various essential roles in eukaryotic cell biology. This study compared the expression of the STAG1 gene in four different breast cancer cell lines, including: MCF-7, T-47D, MDA-MB-468, and MDA-MB-231 and normal breast tissue. RNA was extracted from these cell lines and mRNA was converted to cDNA, and then expression of the STAG1 gene was quantified by three sets of specific p

Revision of some Biomarkers with Cytokines in Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most repeatedly detected cancer category and the second reason cause of cancer-linked deaths among women worldwide. Tumor bio-indictor is a term utilized to describe possible indicators for carcinoma diagnosis, development and progression. The goal of this study is to evaluate part of some cytokines and biomarkers for both serum and saliva samples in breast cancer then estimate their potential value in the early diagnosis of breast cancer by doing more researches in saliva, and utilizing saliva instead of blood (serum and plasma) in sample collection from patients. Serum and salivary samples were taken from 72 patients with breast cancer and 45 healthy controls, in order to investigate the following

Urokinase – type Plasminogen Activator System in Human Breast Cancer

Urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA), urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR) and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1) are essential for metastasis, and overexpression of these molecules is strongly correlated with poor prognosis in a variety of malignant tumors. This study revealed direct correlation between immunohistochemical expression of uPA with pathological stage. No significant association of immunohistochemical expressions of uPA, uPAR and PAI-1 with immunohistochemical expressions for estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor -2 (HER-2/neu), and direct association between immunohistochemical expressions of (uPA and uPAR) as well as between immunohistochemical expr

Accuracy of Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy (F.N.A.B) in Diagnosis of Breast Lump

Background: Breast cancer is the first one among Iraqi females. Most of them present later for diagnosis. Early detection center in tertiary hospital practice uses FNAB for early diagnosis. Publications on accuracy of this detection are scarce.

Objective:  To test the accuracy of FNAB in breast lump diagnosis.

Methods: Diagnostic test accuracy study, on 204 women with breast lump, attending the oncology department in 2017.

Results: Fine-needle aspiration biopsy diagnosis of histologically malignant cases were, malignant in 89 (87.3%), suspicious of malignancy in 5 (4.9%), and benign in 4 (3.9%). Complete sensitivity was 87.3%, and specificity

IL-2 and IL-4 Serum Levels in Breast Cancer

Background: The role of cytokines in cancer immunity and carcinogenesis in general has been well established, which play an important role in the pathogenesis of many solid cancers. This study aimed to estimate serum levels of IL-2 and IL-4, and to shed light on the correlation of these interleukins with progression of breast cancer.
Patients and Methods: The study included 80 women, it comprised of 45 breast cancer patients, 12 patients with benign breast lesions and 23 apparently healthy controls. ELISA method has been used for estimation the level of IL-2 and IL-4 in serum of three studied groups.
Results: This study showed elevation of IL-4 level in the sera of breast cancer patients with significant dif

The Association of Severe Toxoplasmosis and Some Cytokine Levels in Breast Cancer Patients

Toxoplasma gondii is an opportunistic pathogen in which the reactivation of a latent infection can cause death in congenitally infected fetuses, newborns, and immunocompromised patients. This study aimed to determine the seropositivity of toxoplasmosis infection and the possible association with Interleukin-12 (IL-12) and Interleukin-23 (IL-23) cytokines in breast cancer patients. In this study, 190 women were enrolled. All serum samples were tested for T. gondii immunoglobulins (IgG and IgM) antibodies and (IL-12, IL-23) levels using ELISA technique. The result of this study showed that breast cancer patients recorded the highest percentage of toxoplasmosis infection. There were no positivity rates for anti- Toxopl
