Evaluation of Synergistic Effect of Nicotinic Acid with Imipenem as Antibiofilm for Clinical Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Isolates
...Show More Authors

The present study aims to evaluate the synergistic activity of nicotinic acid (NIC) with the Imipenem (IMI) as an anti-biofilm for clinical isolated Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The values of minimum inhibitor concentration (MICs) for IMI and NIC (Separately) against P. aeruginosa were (16) ug/mL and (8) ug/ml respectively. Whereas, the concentration of NIC with IMI (as combined) for biofilm inhibition was  1 ug/ml for NIC and 4 ug/ml for IMI. The combining of NIC with IMI showed synergistic efficacy against formation of bacterial biofilm (at MIC levels). These     results provide a conclusion that NIC combined with IMI is can be considered as a successful prospective treatment against the biofilm produced by P. aeruginosa and as antibacterial medication.

The synergistic effect of Zeolites type (?) with chlorinated rubber as flame retardants for unsaturated polyester resin: Jalil R. Ugal| Zahraa Q. Mahdi
...Show More Authors

In this work, the synergistic effect of chlorinated rubber (additive I),with zeolite 3A (additive II), zeolite 4A (additive III), and zeolite 5A (additive IV) in (1:1) weight percentage, on the flammability for unsaturated polyester resin was studied in the weight ratios for (3,7,10,13&15%) by preparing films of (130×130×3) mm in diameters. Three standard test methods used to measure were the flame retardation which are; ASTM: D-2863, ASTM: D- 635& ASTM: D-3014. Results obtained from these tests indicated that all of the additives were effective additive IV has the highest efficiency as a flame retardant.

The synergistic effect of borax and chlorinated paraffin as flame – retardants for epoxy and unsaturated polyester resins
...Show More Authors

In this investigation , borax (B) (additive I) and chlorinated paraffin (CP.) (additive II) ,were used as flame retardants for each of epoxy and unsaturated polyester resins in the weight ratios of 2,4,6, & 8% by preparing films of (130×130×3) mm dimensions. Also films of these resins with a mixture of [50%(B.)+50%(CP.)] (additive III) in the same weight ratios were prepared in order to study the synergistic effect of these additives on the flammability of the two resins . Three standard test methods were used to measure the flame retardation which are : 1-ASTM : D-2863 2-ASTM : D-635 3-ASTM : D-3014

Study the Effect of Pyocyanin Extracted from Pseudomonas aeruginosa on DNA Fragmentation of Human Lymphocytes Cells
...Show More Authors

Eight isolates of P. aeruginosa were obtained out of 90 water samples. The isolated colonies were identified based on their morphology and biochemical characteristics, were confirmed as P. aeruginosa by the API 20E test system.
The percentages of P. aeruginosa recovery in this study were 8.8.% All isolates were able to produce greenish blue pigment (pyocyanin). Pyocyanin at all concentrations was significantly increased the percentage of fragmented DNA of peripheral blood lymphocyte cells compared to control , results showed that DNA fragmentation percentage was higher in concentration 50 μg/ml (70%,74.3%) at 24 hr,48hr respectively. In summary, results of recent study demonstrate that the pyocyanin, induces apoptosis of human periph

Study on tssC1 Gene Mediating Biofilm Antibiotics Resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa
...Show More Authors

P. aeruginosa is a famous bacterium that causes several diseases and has a high ability to be a multidrug resistant organism that is linked with the formation of biofilm. This study aimed to investigate tssC1 gene role in the resistance of different antibiotics in the presence of biofilm. We constructed biofilm for the isolates under the study and showed the effect of different antibiotics on biofilm formation and maturation. The presence of the gene was detected through achieving PCR reaction. Finally, tssC1 gene variation was determined through sequencing and aligning the sequencing products. The results showed that most of the isolates (80%) formed biofilm that played a role in the resistance of different antibiotics which could be du

THE INHIBITORY EFFECT OF PARTIALLY PURIFIED LIPOPOLYSACHARIDE EXTRACTED FROM PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA BACTERIA ON CANDIDA GLABRATA YEAST
...Show More Authors

Pseudomonas aerogenosa lipopolysaccharidewas extracted by hot phenol method and purified by gel filtration method using the Sephadex G-200 gel and detected by the limulus amebocyt lysate (EU/ml 0.03)(Wako Chemicals USA, Inc.). The inhibitory effect of partially purified LPS on Candida glabrata yeast was studied in a microdilution method. This study found that LPS has an inhibitory effect on Candida glabrata with the lower concentrations. The inhibitory effect of LPS which treated with heating was studied under boiling and wet heat effect. The toxicity of LPS on Candida glabrata was not affected when treated with heating LPS and the results were similar to those found in untreated LPS

Pseudomonas aeruginosa was isolated from various clinical samples included urine, sputum, stool, ear, wound & burn swabs. Detection of the ability of local isolates to produce staphylolysin enzyme was studied, on Tryptic soya agar + 0.2% (wt./vol.) of heat killed Staphylococcus. aureus at temperature 100oC. medium and the diameters of lysis zone ranged from 5-22mm, then the isolate P16 was chosen to extract staphylolysin A (LasA) and its specific activity reaches 8.59 unit /mg protein, whi1e the isolate P5 was chosen to extract staphylolysin D (LasD) where it's specific activity reaches 0.66 unit /mg protein since the two isolates were the most production of enzyme. Staphylolysin enzyme was extracted by cooling centrifugation and par
