Smartphones as Smart Tools for Science and Engineering Laboratory: A Review

     This article reviews a decade of research in transforming smartphones into smart measurement tools for science and engineering laboratories. High-precision sensors have been effectively utilized with specific mobile applications to measure physical parameters. Linear, rotational, and vibrational motions can be tracked and studied using built-in accelerometers, magnetometers, gyroscopes, proximity sensors, or ambient light sensors, depending on each experiment design. Water and sound waves were respectively captured for analysis by smartphone cameras and microphones. Various optics experiments were successfully demonstrated by replacing traditional lux meters with built-in ambient light sensors. These smartphone-based measurements have increasingly been incorporated into high school and university laboratories. Such modernized science and engineering experimentations also provide a ubiquitous learning environment during the pandemic period.

Synthesis of 5-Fluorouracil Derivatives as Possible Mutual Prodrugs with Meloxicam and Ibuprofen for Targeting Cancer Tissues

In the present study, five derivatives have been designed to be synthesized as possible mutual prodrugs for 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) and non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to selectively deliver the drugs into the cancer cells. The synthesis of the target compounds were accomplished following multistep reaction procedures, the chemical reaction followed up and the purity of the products were checked by TLC. Foreign direct investment and economic growth literature review from 1994 to 2012

Foreign direct investment (FDI) has been viewed as a power affecting economic growth (EG) directly and indirectly during the past few decades. This paper reviewed an amount of researches examining the relationships between FDI and EG, especially the effects of FDI on EG, from 1994 up to 2012. The results show that the main finding of the FDI-EG relation is significantly positive, but in some cases it is negative or even null. And within the relation, there exist several influencing factors such as the adequate levels of human capital, the well-developed financial markets, the complementarity between domestic and foreign investment and the open trade regimes, etc.
