Dropping packets with a linear function between two configured queue thresholds in Random Early Detection (RED) model is incapable of yielding satisfactory network performance. In this article, a new enhanced and effective active queue management algorithm, termed Double Function RED (DFRED in short) is developed to further curtail network delay. Specifically, DFRED algorithm amends the packet dropping probability approach of RED by dividing it into two sub-segments. The first and second partitions utilizes and implements a quadratic and linear increase respectively in the packet dropping probability computation to distinguish between two traffic loads: low and high. The ns-3 simulation performance evaluations clearly indicate that DFRED algorithm significantly controls the average queue occupancy and yields a reasonable gain in end-to-end-delay under different network conditions.
This paper aims to study the role of a prey refuge that depends on both prey and predator species on the dynamics of a food web model. It is assumed that the food transfer among the web levels occurs according to Lotka-Volterra functional response. The solution properties, such as existence, uniqueness, and uniform boundedness, are discussed. The local, as well as the global, stabilities of the solution of the system are investigated. When a vehicle is left parked in the sun for an extended period, the gathered heat causes damage to several interiors within the cabin and causes discomfort for people and animals left inside the car. In the present work, the effect of the orientation of a parked white minibus on temperature distribution and cooling load calculation is studied experimentally in an open environment. Two different cases were studied facing south and facing east. For several hours, the temperature inside the car cabin had been monitored and measured at five separate locations. We determine the local stability of the equilibrium points for the scenarios of extinction, semi-extinction (extinction for one species), and coexistence using the Linearized Stability Theorem. For a suitable Lyapunov function, we investigate theoretical findings to determine the global stability of the coexisting equilibrium point.
